I have never had either of these but want to try one when we visit in October. Can anyone tell me what the difference is? The online menu's I have read aren't much help. DH is somewhat picky and he would prefer more of a traditional Japanese steakhouse meal. Thanks!

I know Teppan Edo is Teppyaki style cooking, In other words expensive Japanese Steakhouse type of food you can get almost anywhere now. I think Tokyo Dinning is upscale Sushi and overpriced Japanese food. IMO

What you want can be found at Teppan Edo. Make a left as you come in. You sit around the chef as he puts on a show grilling meats and vegetables. Tokyo Dining is good as well. If you prefer a quieter, dimly lit space with decent sushi, go there.
Both have "Disney" pricing, i.e. expensive for what you get.

Teppan Edo is a typical Japanese Steakhouse experience. They try to make it Disney-esque by adding the "Space Mountain" steaming onions ( I still don't quite get that). The food is good, and we liked the tea. The waitresses are very attentive! My husband actually liked the steak better than some of the steakhouses (don't ask me why- very tender I guess). My kids liked the dipping sauces for their chicken.:)

I've only been to Teppan Edo. I will say it's classic 'dinner-is-a-show', and depending on how many options you have locally that offer the same thing, you may or may not find that appealing. It's very solid, but not very adventurous.

I honestly prefer Nine Dragons (Chinese) over both of these restaurants...I know it's not Japanese, but our family enjoyed it better than the two Japanese restaurants.

I've been to both (on seperate trips). Good food and service at both locations. If you want a chef preparing the meal at your table as part of the enterainment go for Teppan Edo. Unless you are in a large group at TE you will be seated with another party. Toyko is a sit and order and the waitress will bring it to you kinda place. I had the steak at TE and a grilled salmon at Toyko. I recommend either. Hope this helps!

Not space mountain, or we have always been told it a volcano and it is the best steak chicken and shrimp you can get there. It does entertain and that is why we go. You also meet some really nice people that you sit with if your party does not fill the table of 8 up.. LOVE it. It is the best food during our 9 day stays the we eat. The rest is just blahhhhhh. We are NOT raw fish eaters so Tokyo would not be for us. If your hubby is a steak or grilled chicken guy then this is for him. I am very picky.. I want NO fat and want it cooked done.. This has never failed me and I leave not a morsel of meat on the plate because there is NO FAT!!!!!

Teppon Edo is one of our must do restaurants every trip (even the small 4 day ones). It’s my 12 year old daughter’s favorite place. We always use the DDP so we go there for lunch. One of the most fascinating aspects we have had here is that; we have always been seated with other fun and friendly diners (if you do not have a party of 12(?) you are seated with other diners) who have elevated our experiences. I find that to be a great testament to Disney or perhaps just simple good luck.

It is for party of 8 4 on the back and 2 on each end and the chef is on the other side long end...we had 6 and they sat us with another couple in Jan from Kentucky that were the funnest and gave us much insight to the state of Kentucky and the shady people back in the woods.. really.. said you do NOT want to drive back in there unless you are KIN.. LOL love it and will never stop going there. Nine dragons was good but not the same as Teppon.. Love the sesame street as well. Our chef had been to Dallas before 5 hours from us and I like to never figured out what town he was talking about. he was hilarious . We do not have a place around here like this, soit is a treat.. but even if you do this still is the bes value for your dollar if not on the plan.. Always consistent..

That is exactly what I was talking about, great stories from people you just met. We have alot of these moments there too. Thanks for sharing and giving the proper lay out of the tables.

Your welcome. We have been 4 times all 4 years and wouldn't miss it even if we did have something like it here ... To us the food has gone down in Disney but this one stays on top. The tables have always been like this. One time they didnt have a party of 3 to sit with us so it was just us... you never know but so much funner with fellow Disney lovers.
