Nope, never got an email, except for the reply that I got from the contact name that you gave me. I thought the person was a he, not a she (unless you mean that she passed the details to the person you gave me).

I'll check out the web site and the "My Stuff" tab, etc. I'd be willing to bet that there isn't anything listed for me.

Thanks!
It is a he that I told you about. The she put me in touch with him.

Try this URL to log in and see "your stuff"

Just tried to burn my first DVD project in Studio 9 (having burt numerous DVDs in Studio 8) and it made a total of it.

The picture wobbles all the way through. Ah well, another support call for Pinnacle to ignore.

TAC - whilst searching their site for answers it mentions that other burning software can mess up theirs and you should close all of them down - including packet reading programs. Check open processes for the following and close them:

tfswctrl.exe
incd.exe
bsclip.exe
drgtodsc.exe
gearsec.exe
directcd.exe

I just got Adobe Premiere Yesterday. I haven't installed anything yet. So, I'll let you all know how it goes.

I think the (fond) days of Pinnacle Studio may be behind me...

I have seen this program, and without a manual it looks somewhat daunting. However I thought the same of Photoshop, but now I love it.

Do you know of any online resourses to get to grip with the basics?

uninstall all Pinnacle software and run a program called Regdelete: (You can download regdelete here:
ftp://ftp.pinnaclesys.de/driver/pc/extras/RegDelete.exe. )
(or www.pinnaclesys.de/uk -> Support -> Studio DC10+ -> Tools)

When running this program, please tick “All Pinnacle Products” and “Remove all video capture drivers” If the message: “All registry entries have now been removed” does not appear, then first click only ‘Studio 8’ and press Clean, and then tick Studio DC10+ then Clean.

When the Windows registry has been cleaned, please restart your PC and install Studio 8 from your Studio 8 CD[/color].

I would not use their uninstall program. When I ran it, it removed entries other then Pinnacle software. When I rebooted I got the a screen that said "Registry is missing or corrupted unable to continue" I had to reinstall XP.

Well, Studio continues to underwhelm. I have tried to burn my first project to DVD using Studio 9 and the picture has a wobble all the way through.

As per usual Pinnacle blame the burner, the madia, the source files, anything but their damn program. So I tried to burn the same video using my old copy of Studio 8, which worked OK (after the tradidional Studio 8 crash for no good reason).

Pinnacle have now given me the standard uninstall and clean the registry instructions. I've done that and it's made all difference. I guess this one will sit in their to do list in the hope I go away.

A quick perspective from me.

I recently did a lot of editing for a film project I was working on.

I thought that with the additon of Premiere, I would no longer need Pinnacle.
This turned out to be not the case. Premiere afforded me the opportunity to do NUMEROUS effects, along with superimposing several video layers on top of each other.

However, I found that if I just wanted to drag and drop clips on a timeline (Premiere doesn't automatically separate the clips into scenes), Pinnacle was still easier.

Granted, Premiere is definitely not as buggy as Pinnacle. However, it certaintly isn't crash proof.

Just my two cents...

Pinnacle now have version 9.35 - though it does not yet automatically detect it, you have to get it directly from the website.

This has resolved the picture wobble problem I had when burning a DVD - so much for Pinnacle blaming me, my PC setup and my DVD. It was their software all along!

Welcome to the joys of Pinnacle!

What version are you using? I started with Version 8 and it was dreadful. Pinnacle's "solution" to the problems was to suggest I purchase Version 9. When I pointed out that meant version 8 was not suitable for the purpose intended and therefore broke UK retail laws they immediately sent me Version 9, which is far more stable (even if the first version refused to burn DVDs)

The other thing I'm surprised Pinnacle did not tell you to do is remove Studio and erase all the associated entries from the registry then reinstall it (I lost track of how many times they told me to do that).

Can you still open the project? If so try to remove the transitions and save the file. Then see if you can put them back in.

If you can still get in, but not edit it, try to create a full quality AVI of the project as it is. You can then start a new project an used this AVI as it's basis rather than have to start from scratch again.
