Tips and Rewards Dollars

I am going to WDW in June and will be on the dining plan. We have been using our Disney Visa Card and expect to have about $600 in reward dollars by then. After searching these forums I understand that I can use my reward dollars for the tip. In that regard I have two questions. How exactly would I go about doing that since our meals will be paid for by swiping one of our cards and having 4 table serve meals deducted? As any one else used their rewards for tips? Also, I read that it's possible to 'charge' your tip to your room then use your reward dollars when checking out to pay the balance. However, the reward dollars aren't good at every restaurant, so if I 'charge' the tip to my room for a restaurant that doesn't participate will they still accept my reward dollars at checkout for that purchase?:veryconfu

We have used Disney Reward Dollars for 3 trips and have not ran into a problem with restaurants not accepting them. We use them everywhere...except the alcoholic beverage place at Typhoon Lagoon. That is the only place in 3 trips that did not accept Disney Reward Dollars.

i just went the 16th-20th, i had 1300 in reward dollars, it paid for my room, tickets, souveneirs and meals/tips. we ate at kona cafe, crystal palace, trails end, spoodles and various quick serve windows. everyone accepted the disney reward card. as far as using it with your meal plan, i'm not sure how that works as they have to actually run the reward card as they would a credit card then you add a tip on.

upon check-in they mentioned to us the same thing as you with charging everything to the room and then paying for it with the reward points, but as mentioned up above, they would more than likely have to swipe the card first in order to add a tip on.
