I haven't heard of anything official, but realistically, what do you all think time-wise for the DHS expansions. Do you think it'll open all at once or in parts? Any indication that they have already been working on things "behind the scenes" so that maybe the time to completion will be shorter? What's your best guess:1 year? 2 years?

Planning a trip in Sept 2016. Expecting not much to be done (if anything), but wondering if there's any possibility that some things will be done??

Everything should be done in roughly 6 months, give or take 5 years.

Nothing will be done in September 2016.

2019-2020 for Star Wars.

In 2016 the most you will see is construction walls and closed buildings.

EDIT: Not entirely true - the additional destination(s) for Star Tours may be there, and the Star Wars Welcome Center thing should be open, I believe. But as far as the truly new projects? See above.

No new rides by Sept 2016, but the Toy Story Midway Mania extra track expansion will be done by then, so it's better than nothing. So now maybe you can ride it a few additional times without a ridiculous wait. Who knows, maybe the new track will have something different than the existing two. Doubt it though.

At least by then Animal Kingdom will have Rivers of Light and the new nighttime safari, so that'll give you something new to see.

Didn't they say at D23 that the new Star Tours destinations will be done later this year? Or am I misremembering? I'm thinking it might be a Christmas thing to coincide with the release of the movie.

I couldn't remember if it was this year or next year - but I do believe you may be correct.

I was at the midnight Launch Party for 2.0 and the Imagineers present said it was designed to have things slipped in overnight, so it is completely plausible.

In 2016... construction walls in this park.... east side of the park will have lots of activity... You will see very little...

Time frame....

2017 TS - Look for late summer to early fall of 2017... Will be finished and open (back end of movie run) before End of Fiscal Year......
2019 SW - Look for soft opens on first 2 new attractions in summer... "something" close to end of summer after that....

Yep, that's right. The only question is, will there be a new scene from The Force Awakens on *every* Star Tours ride, or will it be as random as what it currently is? It could be possible that even if you rode Star Tours several times in a day that you still may not get to see one of the newer scenes. I wonder how Disney plans on handling that?

My thought has been that whatever is new will be on "special" rotation as a promotional thing, and then be worked in to standard rotation after. Perhaps at first even by time of day ("come after 4PM to see..."). I'm pretty certain that they will somehow increase it's rotation regardless.

From my understanding, the system that "randomizes" is very flexible and customizable and was designed for maximum future flexibility. Gone are the days of the show running off a laserdisc. ;)

Interesting to know that the system that "randomizes" can be amended to increase frequency of certain scenes. Very cool. Your thought on the special rotation during a promotional period would be ideal. The after 4PM idea would help keep crowds at HS longer as well versus what typically happens now, which is to park hop from HS to MK in the afternoon.

I would expect TSP to be open Late 2017/18. I would expect Star Wars around 2020/21.

2016? I wouldnt get my hopes up.

Edit: I am hopeful for the timetable laid out above.... 2019 would be great.

Yeah, especially since it seems the park will be shrinking before it will be expanding, I think that would work to keep folks around. I have absolutely no reason to think they are doing that specifically aside from personal logical assumption, though. I'm just rather sure they will do something to set it apart to promote the new section(s).

Although assuredly it is more complex, from what I understood the "randomizer" resembles a series of fancy play lists - sort of how if you put the same song on your playlist twice and turn on "shuffle" - that song will come up twice as often as songs only there once. Like I said, though, I'm sure it's much more complex than that - just the same thought process. Although they didn't get any deeper than that, I'd presume they could also set certain (or all) cabins on a static show if they wanted. Basically, because it's all digital they can pretty much do whatever they want.

Tough to know for sure exactly how they will handle it. I'd think they'd want to please every guest by playing a scene involving the new movie on every ride once the update has been complete....at least while the new movie remains in theaters. We'll know for sure in a little less than 4 months from now.
