Timekeeper closed ...yet still on guidemap...?

I visited the Magic Kingdom today. Upon examining my park Guidemap, I noticed that Tomorrowland attraction #51, The Timekeeper, was listed with the absence of any note of it being closed. However, upon visiting the attraction area, it was closed, with the folding sign out front covered, as well as the backlit sign on the wall. There was no sign of limited hours of operation, and the doors were blocked by a bench, so the attraction was obviously never open today.

Which begs the question, why was it listed on the current Guidemap? Are Guidemaps becoming so generic that they are no longer date-sensitive in any way?

As if that were not bad enough, Frontierland attraction #14, Splash Mountain, appears right there on the map, again, absent of any note of it being closed for rehab!

Timekeeper also appears on the Guidemaps for versions: Spanish, Portugues, French and Japanese. Yet for some reason, it is excluded from: German.

I found all of this to be interesting and disappointing. :brick:

Disney has gone with a time/rehab "blowin" that you should have recieved in your park map. I have posted two scans (In the Photos sections of this board) of what it looks like front and back from my visit on Jan26

Thanks for the images. The showtimes flyer was not (and in my experience, has never been) included in the guidemap(s). Rather, they are placed adjacent to where the (English) guidemaps are picked up at the main entrance. Therefore, any guest who does not pick up the additional sheet will not be aware of the "updates."

Also, guests who pick up foreign language maps are out of luck - as there are no showtime flyers available at the foreign language guidemap station. Not to mention guidemaps acquired in giftshops and throughout the park.

Seeing as how WDW recieves guests from around the world, it is my opinion that they could do a little bit more in the guidemap area. What good is positioning 3 Splash Mountain CMs in front of the attraction going to do when a non-English speaking guest looks up at the mountain, confused, and attempts to inquire as to why he/she - having traveled across the world - cannot ride it?

Today, for example, a guest from the UK was "yelling" towards a maintanence woman working on the mountiain - about 40 feet away - as to when it would be open again. I guess even a couple of CMs don't quite do the job.

As much as I love WDW, I try to - objectively - examine issues from all points of view.

Just my thoughts,

they do have multi-lingual cast members. However, I do think they need to go back to their park maps that were week-specific...

I believe the foreign language flyers are available at guest relations if I am not mistaken.

Part of the reason that I was told for going to the sheets in addition to cut costs is that the parks hours are not the same everyday anymore with the same shows scheduled at the exact same time everyday if they are doing a show everyday. This way color maps are no longer needed to be produced for each week.
At least that is what I was told by an assistant to VP of Epcot F&B.

hmm looks like I will be there also in Easter. I wanna get some better digital shots of the ride. I dont think my video can turn out any better than what it is now.

Is your video available online? I recorded the attraction as well, on DV - and I'd like to compare it to others who may have recorded it.

Also, as I acquire and edit future footage, what is the best medium through which we can share online videos? (i.e. there is a place on this board to post pictures.)

The park maps now are generic. They don't have the dates in them anymore. The Magic Kingdom had the dates for Chirstmas/New Years only. Now they give you a times brochure telling you park hours and show times in each park. It also should tell you the current ride closings.
