Tiffins/ROL questions

I am interested in booking the ROL package at Tiffins for our next trip. I read somewhere that you can only book the package 3 months out, not 6 months out. Does that mean that I should try to book Tiffins as a regular meal at the 180 day mark and then try to convert it to a package? Or is there some other recommended way to accomplish this? Also, how's the seating for ROL if you do the package? TIA.

I just booked it 6 months in advance this week.

It depends on whenever they release the packages. Our trip in Jan was definitely closer to the 3 month mark than the 6 month mark. We booked lunch, and it looked like there was still open tables in the gallery we were in. The seating wasn't bad, it was in the Nemo section, seats closest to the bridge. Not sure at what point the seats changed to standby, but they told us that 15 mins out, standby would be allowed to sit anywhere.

Part of the problem is that Disney is notorious for late-scheduling their night shows, and especially so with RoL which they can't decide whether a particular night should have one, two, or no shows. So, some packages may not be online until late because the scheduling of the show isn't finalized until late.
