I recently returned form a trip to the world. On July 12th while at MK after Wishes I got in line for BTMR with a fastpass. I was already to be in the next train to come in. After a minute with no train an announcement was made that the ride was temporarily closed. Soon there were more CM's and suits arriving to help evacuate the trains. I would like to know if anyone knows what the problem was that night. And also to any CM's out there, When the problem occurred they opened a cabinet full of blue locks and distributed them to all the cast. They also seemed to be writing something on the back of the cabinet. I am just very curious what these locks were, and why each CM was getting one before going out to the trains.

Thanks for the news.

This attraction is definitely cursed. :lookaroun

(From what I hear, BTMR at WDW is perfectly safe, though, although the reliable CM who told me this said it was MUCH safer than Space. . . then again she rode it with the lights on  )

Wow! I rode BTMR on July 13th! It did stop just as we were going up that hill climb inside the "mountain." It got going right away, just as when other rides stop, but I thought about the Disneyland BTMR. Scary!

Weird. I know they'll stop running it for weather but I hadn't heard of any serious problems with WDW's version - just DL's. They better not have problems - it's like my all-time favorite ride at MK! They just renovated it last summer too; it was closed for months for paint, touchups and whatnot.

Not knowing directly the ride tag-out/lockout proceedure....

The locks you most likely saw were part of the safety system. Whenever a CM is to enter a "restricted" area of an operating ride, it is usual to keep a very tight log of when, where and how. The locks are to secure parts that could very seriously injure a CM or guest.

Not a big deal.
Any number of things can cause an E-stop, shutting down the attraction. 90% of the time, the ride can be reset in 30 min. to a couple of hours.

The locks/writing are just part of the procedure to keep track of who is out on the track. Until all locks are back, and all names checked off, the ride can not be started.
