Thrill Ride Order of Thrilliness

I am a total chicken. I hate roller coasters. I hate the drops. I wouldn't even think about doing anything inverted.

That being said, I like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain. I tolerate Space Mountain, but really do hate the drop.

All in all, where do the thrill rides rank from most to least extreme? Is my thinking below correct?

Rock n Roller Coaster
Mission Space
Everest
Tower of Terror
Splash Mountain
Space Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

And....am I leaving out any rides?

From how you describe yourself, I think the order for you would be (least to most intense):

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Splash Mountain
Space Mountain
Tower of Terror
Expedition Everest
Mission Space
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster

I only rate Everest so intense because it goes backwards. And as the self-proclaimed "total chicken" you are, how would you do going backwards? Otherwise you'd be fine on it.

I would drop Splash Mountain, a huge drop.....

Mission Space is great...

I'm the same type of person, but I still don't ride Space Mountain, but I love Mission Space, Test Track, and Soarin'....

Honestly I feel Mission Space shouldn't be in the same group as the rest as these. There are no high speeds, drops, inversions, or anything. It's just the centifrugal force that makes it so intense.

Now, there is a mild version of M:S. :animwink:
For me, ToT would be at the top of the list for thrills! I hate that falling sensation!

Trust me on this one, don't do Everest. I kept hearing how it was "just like Big Thunder." It's not. It's a real coaster. It's extremely high, horrifyingly scary in the backwards part and terrifyingly high of a main drop. I would never in a million years have done it if I'd have known just how intense it really was.

I won't ride ToT or Splash Mountain because of the heights/disgusting falling sensation. And I won't do RnRC because of the inversion.

I don't like Space Mountain because it jerks you around too much and really hurt my neck. The dropping in it wasn't fun but wasn't the worst. I just don't find it a fun ride.

Mission Space made me a little queasy but since there's no dropping or falling, it's good unless you get motion sick. And if you do, try the new spin-free version which would be more like a simulator (a la Star Tours) then a spinner.

Big Thunder is one of my favorite rides at WDW simply because it's fun. There's nothing scary or bad about it. Same kind of thing with Test Track - it's just a faster sensation to the curved force in Big Thunder.

No matter what, if you feel you don't want to ride something, don't let anyone try to push you into it. It's ok if you don't ride a ride or don't like a type of ride. There's so much to do at Disney that there's no reason to do something that you'd hate or that would make you sick.

Have a great time!

This is how I view the rides:

(most scary)
Mission Space - I won't even go on it
Rock n Roller Coaster
Space Mountain
Big Thunder & Everest (tied)
Tower of Terror
Splash Mountain
(least scary)

Just my opinion...

Let me start by saying that I hate roller coasters. But I have tried everything on your list. The only ones I won't do are RnRC because it goes upside down. My 9 yr old DD loves it. Mission Space because at the end is when I get queasy. But now I will try the "tamer" version. All the rest of them I love. Don't let anyone force you but if you can, try them at least once, that way you can say you did it. Everest is a great thrill. But everyone has their own opinions when it comes to rides, that's why you should at least try them once. And don't forget Goofy's Barnstormer. It's a short ride, but I really enjoy it. :lookaroun Have fun!!

Soarin

Thanks for all your feedback...

Now, the wife hated Mission Space (centrifugal force was too much for her). She also HATED Body Wars - she totally got sick afterwards (more of the hurky jerky than the blood stuff).

But, what about this new ride, Soarin? What do people think of this ride? Do people get sick on this?

Soarin' is a great ride. I have never met anyone who hated it or get sick on it. It's a must-do for your visit to Epcot. If you put it on your list, it'd be by far the least intense. You should have no problems.

Soarin' is smooth and there's none of the usual urpy senations you can get from Star Tours type rides. And because it's a "simulated" height, it's not scary. While technically it does lift you off the ground, you can't see it and the screen is so encompassing that it's just this smooth, soft, gliding sensation. It's amazingly fun.

WOW i cant believe many people on here dont enjoy the rides as much as most people. In my opinion maybe just me cause i enjoy roller coasters but there is not a single ride in Disney World that is scary. Its a magical place and all the rides cater to both young and old. The only ride that i believe a lot of people should fear is Tower of Terror just for the freefall feeling. Maybe i am biased because i have gone on many big roller coasters (universal and six flags) . That being said i am afraid of heights but love roller coasters. The three mountains in Magic Kingdom are fun. The drops are small and speed is just average. Disney is the greatest place on earth . Just enjoy the rides and have the time of your life. You dont wanna miss out on great rides because if you havent been on it , its not half as scary as you would like to think.

I am afraid of heights, but Soarin' is great!! You don't even realize you are off the ground. I will probably look like a big dork, but it brings a tear to my eyes.

EDIT: I wasn't really crying, it was allergies. yeah that's it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Cool thread title, balto. "Thrilliness" - heh.

From most to least:
Mission Space
Rock n Roller Coaster
Space Mountain
Tower of Terror
Big Thunder Mountain
Test Track
Splash Mountain

Soarin' has thrilliness with no scariness or sickiness.

I agree, but I also realize this depends SOLELY on your thrill seeker level. I have yet to find anything at disney that is scary (absent AE for the first time), but I also won't give Universal anything that is scary. Very few coasters or drop rides do much to me. However, open troughs kill me. A 40' water slide or flume ride with open sides off the ground petrifies me. A 420' coaster is intense, but not really scary. Everyone has their own quirks. I love the Disney coasters and thrill rides. I think they are GREAT fun, but many have hang ups from the way they are wired. If you don't like it, don't ride it (and certainly don't feel bad for not). It's all about having what you consider fun, I guess.

I guess I should clarify...I don't find any Disney rides scary either (I took intense/scary to mean the same thing) so when I ranked them from most scary to least scary I guess I was doing that for the benefit of the OP and any other people that don't like coasters, big drops, etc...to give them an idea of intensity/scare level THEY may experience. Personally, though, I don't find the rides scary and I'm sure the majority of you coaster lovers (like me) don't either!

Disney rides don't even compare (intensity wise) to the big-time roller coasters at parks like Six Flags, etc but who goes to Disney for the thrill rides alone anyway...not me!
