Hey everyone! I have been missing from here for a while as real life work and a recent Disney trip have kept me busy, but I just finished a really big project and wanted to come by and share it with you all!
I just finished posting a 3 part series with different versions of plans for EPCOT, each with a different goal. One plan is my attempt at a realistic plan for the next 5-10 years, focusing just on stuff that I think could and would really happen in the park. The second is a fully built out and ambitious plan that goes all in on IPs in EPCOT, where all the additions tie into a film in some way. And the third, my favorite, is the full dream plan that is 100% original and free from characters, instead focusing on the culture, science, and technology aspects of the park concept.
They are a lot of text, so I am not going to try to copy it here. But I will share the main map image and if you would like to read more about it, I'd encourage you to check out the link to the rest of the text!
The Realistic Version - http://imagineerland.blogspot.com/2018/01/epcot-2018-plan-realistic-version.html
This plan includes the real additions coming soon to the parks, a hotel on either side of the park gates, a redesigned spine through Future World, a major refresh to the Imagination Pavilion with Inside Out, a couple new rides in World Showcase for Mary Poppins and Coco, and one brand new country, Saudi Arabia, with a new attraction for Aladdin.
The Character Version - http://imagineerland.blogspot.com/2018/01/epcot-2018-plan-character-version.html
This version has all of the elements from the plan above, plus a new seasons pavilion that features Bambi, a space pavilion that features WALL-E, a new version of Horizons for the center of the park (the sole non-IP element of the plan), and a lot of new attractions for World Showcase. That includes two new countries plus Saudi Arabia, Equatorial Africa with Tarzan and Peru with Emperors New Groove, and new or updated attractions for nearly all existing countries featuring Brother Bear, Big Hero 6, Pinocchio, Snow White, and Mulan.
The Dream Version - http://imagineerland.blogspot.com/2018/01/epcot-2018-plan-dream-version.html
And this is the big one with the most additions. It also assumes that some stuff will not or did not happen, like Frozen, Guardians, and Ratatouille. The plan includes the restructured spine with New Horizons and a new version of Imagination forming the real heart of the park. There are a few new Future World Pavilions: in East where the focus is science and technology, there is a Computers pavilion, and in West where the focus is Earth Sciences, there is a new Health pavilion and a new Climate pavilion that replaces Imagination. In World Showcase, there are 4 more new countries plus Peru and Saudi Arabia from past plans, as well as new original attractions for many of the existing countries. The new countries are Ethiopia with a flume ride, India with a Bollywood boat ride, South Africa with explorable caves, and Malaysia.
Like I said, there is a ton more information, plus a lot of inspiration pictures on the actual posts if you are interested. I really enjoyed putting these plans together and thinking about all the different ways the parks could go in the future. I only hope that whatever happens, there's still some element of the original EPCOT focus on science, technology, and world culture.
Hope you all like the plans! Let me know which one do you like the best. Or what you think about my assumptions for what is realistic. Thanks for reading!
