AGOURA HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)----THQ Inc. (NASDAQ:THQI) today announced the release of the Ratatouille video game for the PLAYSTATION(R)3 computer entertainment system. The title marks THQ's first Disney /Pixar release for the PLAYSTATION 3 system, following the company's highly successful summer launch of Ratatouille games across 11 different systems including the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft , PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system and PSP(R) (PlayStation(R)Portable) system, Nintendo 's Wii(TM) home video game system, Nintendo GameCube(TM), Game Boy(R) Advance, Nintendo DS(TM), Windows PC and Mac, as well as wireless devices.
Ratatouille for the PLAYSTATION 3 system is inspired by the unique characters and storyline from the critically acclaimed feature film. Players will assume the role of Remy, a young rat whose love for great food puts him at odds with the needs of his family. The game allows players to experience highlights from the film, including memorable characters and key locations, as they explore five action-packed worlds, more than 20 challenging missions and mini-games, and go head-to-head in multiplayer action. The new PLAYSTATION 3 system version of Ratatouille will support the SIXAXIS(TM) Wireless Controller, featuring motion-sensing technology to detect natural and intuitive movements.
Later this month, THQ also plans to release Ratatouille Food Frenzy for the Nintendo DS. Picking up where the film left off, the video game serves up an all new storyline taking full advantage of the DS's capabilities. Players will use the touch screen to cook food, stir pans and fry vegetables while enjoying seven new cooking, puzzle and action games spanning more than 100 different levels. In order to cool off pots and meals hot off the stove, players will blow into the DS microphone. The opening of Remy and Emile's new restaurant, La Ratatouille, will rest in the aprons of players as they guide the duo to master chef status.
THQ's Heavy Iron Studios leads development for Ratatouille across THQ's Studio System with support from Helixe who developed Ratatouille Food Frenzy.
About Disney/Pixar's Ratatouille
In Disney/Pixar's animated-adventure Ratatouille, a rat named Remy dreams of becoming a great chef despite his family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. When fate places Remy in the city of Paris, he finds himself ideally situated beneath a restaurant made famous by his culinary hero, Auguste Gusteau. Despite the apparent dangers of being an unwanted visitor in the kitchen at one of Paris' most exclusive restaurants, Remy forms an unlikely partnership with Linguini, the garbage boy, who inadvertently discovers Remy's amazing talents. They strike a deal, ultimately setting into motion a hilarious and exciting chain of extraordinary events that turns the culinary world of Paris upside down.
Remy finds himself torn between following his dreams and returning forever to his previous existence as a rat. He learns the truth about friendship, family and having no choice but to be who he really is, a rat who wants to be a chef.
