Thoughts about a "Family-moon"?

I have been talking to an engaged friend of mine about her honeymoon plans. She's a disney fan and will be marrying a fellow who has kids from another marriage (14,10, and 9, 2 girls and a boy). She wanted some way to have a "honeymoon" with just the 2 of them for 2 days, and then add in the kids, so they didn't feel left out (thus the "familymoon" was born). The kids are disney fans, so we're pretty sure something disney oriented would go over well. Soon-to-be-step-mom is a disney lover and her hubby-to-be loves that she loves it.

I was thinking that they spend their first couple nights somewhere special (like the Grand Californian or something) and then have the kids join them at a more budget friendly hotel.

What do ya'll think?

Anyone done this?

A co-worked just did the opposite...

- Got married at an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica, all the family was there, including kids and stepkids
- everyone hung around for a few days basically having a big party
- then everyone went home and the honeymoon couple had 5 days to themselves

I'm sure it can work either way.

If they stay at a value resort when the kids join them, they're going to need more than one room because those rooms are SMALL. They might be a whole lot less crowded at POFQ or POR (my two favorite resorts!)

That sounds better to me. Plus it would be MUCH easier to move from the Budget hotel to the Grand Californian, than vice versa!
