I am planning a return trip to Disney in September of 2015. As of now it looks like we could be Flying in on Fri 9/11..wait... what?! I'll post to the thread "Flying to Disney for the first time with my children on the 11th of September, please hold my hand and pass out the Valium" later.

This is the plan.... that other park Fri thru Sun, Sun through Sat at Disney, pretty simple...oh but wait. We will be celebrating my 18th Anniversary(whoa!). I want to surprise my husband with a night at The Contemporary (his bucket list) on the exact day and then on to Wilderness Lodge with rest of the clan.
1. Can I book one package with 2 resorts? Hopefully snagging Free Dining and dinner at Narcoossee.
2. Can park tix be combined? Meaning if I need to do 2 packages can I add a day(cheaper) or must I start over at WL.
Bonus question: My son will be turning 10 on the exact day he steps foot on to Disney soil. Should we fudge the numbers or just check in a day earlier?

Thanks for your help

I'm not sure about your questions - but I think it is really sweet that you want to surprise your husband like that! :)
Good luck!! I'm sure you'll be able to combine resorts somehow. My question: Who is staying with the kids?!?

It is no problem booking split stays at all! I will say that if u r looking for free dining that you would need to make sure there r free dining rooms available for all of your resorts so u get it during the entire stay...

Were you planning on bringing the kids with you to the Contemporary on your anniversary night? If not, I'd just book that separately, and have your WL reservation run straight through. Otherwise it ends up becoming a split stay, so WL, Contemp, WL, which ends up technically being 3 different bookings, meaning you would need to do 3 different ticket purchases to get free dining for all of them, not to mention I believe free dining is currently a 3 night minimum.

You can definitely book it as a split trip, but it will end up costing you more. You need a 2 day ticket minimum with each booking for free dining, so even if your anniversary day happened to fall so that you could do 3 nights 1 night 3 nights, you would end up having to buy multiple tickets. A 2 day MYW base ticket is $200.22, (so $400.44 minimum for the split stay tickets) vs $334.41 for a 6 day MYW base. So you and DH would end up spending at least an extra $70 per person just on tickets (and that only gets you 4 days of parks). So > $140 for the two of you, plus eh another $100 for the kiddos, you are halfway to just paying cash for the room at the Contemporary that one night and getting a family member to crash in your WL room with the kids.

My end suggestion, book WL from start to end. Get the appropriate number of park days and take the free dining if they offer it. Book the one night at the Contemporary separate from the WL reservation. Don't tell the DH. Day of, pack a small bag with essentials for the two of you. Find a way to drop it at bell services in the AM, ask them to transfer it to the Contemporary for you. (It should be there by 4 or 5 in the evening) When you wrap up your day at the park, send the kids back with family, and tell your DH to follow you. Go to Contemporary (Surprise!), check in, grab your bag from bell services there, and enjoy your evening. Next morning drop bag at bell services, ask to transfer it back to WL, meet kids + family at parks.

Excellent suggestion from dreamfinder! and explained much better than I would have :)
And by running the WL reservation straight through, and kids can stay in their same room the whole time.

Maybe you can get a room-only discount for your night at the Contemporary? (and book it in your name) Since it will be a separate reservation with no tickets, I don't think that would be "stacking" discounts....would it??? The day/night of your Contemporary stay, you would happen to already have tickets so no package needed, and with no package, there couldn't be any DP attached to that reservation....it would just be a short resort stay to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Contemporary.
[I'm certainly not encouraging trying to rip off Disney or break any rules, but if it was my plan, I would have to ask about this :cautious: ]

You can book them at the same time; however, they are two separate reservations. Be mindful, deals like free dining deals require 3 night minimum stays. So you would need to book 3 nights at the Contemporary & 3 nights at the Wilderness Lodge to get free dining for both.
2. Can park tix be combined? Meaning if I need to do 2 packages can I add a day(cheaper) or must I start over at WL.
Again, unless you took the room only discount, then no. You would need at least 2 day tickets for each reservations to get free dining.

I would book him as a 9 year old.

Thanks for your help

If this is a return trip, then is it a return trip for your son? If so, then chances are Disney already has him in their computer system with his birthdate. Might be a problem to 'fudge' his numbers.
