So this is happening………hopefully they will work it out this week because otherwise, Broadway is going to be decimated.

The impact of a Broadway strike to the majority of the country is minimal at best, but I do know that inflation after the long Covid shutdown impaced them greatly. I do sympathize, but it's an industry fed by discretionary income. Taxes rise, businesses and people relocate so patronage declines. Vicious spiral.

This strike is not just Broadway, it’s also most touring productions. I do think this will get settled and avoid a strike though.

Really hope both the actors and writers will learn from this and really end this asap. It hurts the viewers as in us and the actors who are not big name stars or get high paychecks.
IATSE knew they couldn't really shut down Broadway in the middle of summer tourist season. They would have looked like complete and total a-holes. Plus, the stagehands are already extremely highly paid. In the past, these Broadway things have been resolved fairly quickly. I think the longest strike they ever had was less than 30 days. To close down Broadway again right after the endless COVID shutdown would have been unthinkable.
