I have a trip for myself and a friend planned Oct 22-26. Tickets and hotel have already been bought and booked. I decided to play around and see if there was a different hotel available the week I’m going and every single resort except 2 seem to be sold out Then I checked the week after Labor Day and there are still tons of resorts available.

So what would you do? Keep your original plans of change them?

What exactly, are you trying to accomplish? That would make it easier to offer advice/opinions.

Personally, I'd change to the slower time. It will still be hot, and you run the same risk of hurricanes, but the parks are more fun when you don't have to wait quite as long in lines.

But realize you'll be way behind the power curve on FP+ and ADRs if you move your plans up... and that's right after the mayhem of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opening, too.

Thanks! I’m surprised the week after Labor Day isn’t booked especially because of GE opening so soon before that. I’d rather go when it’s not so booked like it seems to be end of Oct.

Just be aware that the majority of guests do not stay onsite. So just because the resorts are not booked out doesn’t necessarily mean lower crowds. And, as @larryz said, you will be behind on booking FPs, having missed your 60 day window.

Weekends are very busy times for locals to visit in September, especially since F&W just opened. But the crowds generally tend to be lower since, school is just starting for a lot of people. As noted above the parks whether you go in October or September have the same "Fall" feeling, and the temperature difference between the beginning of September and end of October is basically low 90's vs. Mid 80's. If you wind up saving more or getting your preferred hotel by going in September then do it. (Provided you can change your airfare, if flying, without penalty). You get to experience EPCOT before it starts to close for its change and you get to see Illuminations one last time.

I would personally stay with the October dates. The beginning of September will be very hot and September is the most active month for hurricanes. If you don't mind missing Illuminations, I wouldn't change your plans.
