Staying at AKL (Jambo house) for the first time as the 1st 1/2 of a split stay this summer. Being we are new to the resort, we planned a day to just stick around the resort and explore it, go to the pool, animal watch, etc.

so any things, places, experiences, hidden treasures we should be looking to do?

2 adults, 2 kids (6 and 10...and the 10y/o loves Giraffes) We have a savannah view room, so we plan on doing lots of general animal watching from there each day. Also have ADRs at Sanaa that night.

Look for the college program kids setting up tables of small animal displays in the lobby. These cycle day by day and the kids running them are usually bio or ed majors and are good at working with children.

Make sure you visit both pools.

Ask if they're still doing the night vision goggle activity in the lobby after dark.

See if they'll let you do the kitchen tour at Jiko.

If you like giraffes, wait until late at night at Jambo, then go allll the way down the kudu trail hallway and out onto the corner fire escape. They tend to congregate here and are surprisingly active after dark.

Add to the list cookie decorating and face painting. There's also bead activities (cultural activities) and each of them has a different bead. Collect them all and they put a special on your string of beads. Your 6 year old (and maybe the 10 year old too) might enjoy the Primal Parade through the lobby at night. The kids play instruments and sing/chant African songs. It's cute. Have a great time! We will be there in 56 days, whoohoo!
