There's a back entrance at EPCOT???

We've been to Disney approximately 10 times, but I've just recently heard that there is a back entrance to EPCOT :hammer: . Where is this entrance (between which countries)? I've heard good things about the Cape May Cafe - is this within walking distance through this entrance? Which resort?

Thanks

As connor said Yep.

Cape May Cafe is easily within walking distance or you can take a watershuttle to the Beach Club Resort which is where the restaurant is. Make sure you make ressies early, because they tend to fill up quick. Enjoy!

Where would you park in order to enter this way?
you wouldn't, its really just for guests of Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Swan and Dolphin resorts, or those coming from the Studios. It's a good way to pop over to Boardwalk to eat.
Is there also some type of water transport to Epcot?
yeah, it runs to the aformentioned resorts, all the way to the Studios, then back. However, in most cases, its quicker just to walk!

I admit that i walked past it for years, never really considered exiting there, figuring it was just access to those resorts. I didn't know that you could take a boat to Studios, or even that the Boardwalk entertainment area was there! On my last trip, we stayed at the Dolphin, and were "forced" to learn about it. Its really not well publicized for some reason!

I really think they should change the Boardwalk transportation options as well. its so simple to walk over from Epcot in the evening, but if the parks and DTD are closed, there's no way to get back to your resort! (maybe that's why its not well publicized?)

what we usually do is park at the boardwalk....hit some of the spots...then walk to Epcot.. the entrance is past the ESPN Club and to the right.

You don't have to wait until 11 am to enter that way. We belong to DVC and Beach Club is our home resort. You can enter at 9:00 am and walk through UK right into Future World.

If you would like a leisurely break from touring between MGM and EPCOT, then do the boat ride, you get to see several nice resorts too. If you want to get between them quicker, take the bus.

Does it open early for EMH?

Thanks for the info. I always wondered what time the gateway opened. Does it open early for EMH?

We asked a similar question to a CM and they said that the clubs, etc were really designed for the guests staying in that area and that is why there isn't transport other than to DTD. When we went to Jellyrolls in December, we just opted to take a taxi back, it was well worth the $12 because we were back at our resort in 5 minutes, compared to transferring at DTD, it would have taken us about an hour. Sometimes it's just worth paying a few $$'s for convenience, after all it is vacation.

I don't think parking at the Boardwalk is an issue like parking at the Contemporary. The Boardwalk is a stand alone area and I don't know why a Cast Member would say it's for the guests staying at those resorts. We've never had an issue parking there to go to ESPN etc.

that's what i was thinking
the guests of 5 hotels really can't sustain that area

It opens at the same time as the other gate, but only future world is opened. It is one heck of a trek from the gate to future world, so be aware you are going to need to walk fast to not be too far behind in line with everyone who came in the main gate.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused. Is this the International Gateway you're talking about? If it is, how long of a walk is it to the Boardwalk? I'd love to be able to hit Jellyrolls after Illumiations without fighting the crowds.

Using Gmaps Pedometer, the walk from the IG turnstiles to the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk (which is the first restaurant you come to along the walk) is a hair over 1/4 mile. To compare that distance, it's the same distance as if you were walking from the IG turnstile through the park to where they set up the Christmas Tree in Showcase Plaza.
Going from the ESPN Club to the opposite end of the Boardwalk adds another 1/4 mile or so.

And for the original poster, the walk from the IG turnstiles to Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club is 0.28 miles.

And as for the suggestion on taking the water shuttle as an alternative, it's MUCH faster to walk. The boat stops at the single dock serving both the Yacht & Beach Clubs, and the boat is way down near the Yacht Club's lobby. You'd have to backtrack almost the same walking distance as if you'd walked straight from the IG.

IG is not widely publicized for the same reason buses don't run between the parks and DTD. They don't want guests parking at Boardwalk and skipping out on shelling out the $9.

It surprises me how many people don't know about the International Gateway?

The best thing about staying at an EPCOT resort is the ability to walk to EPCOT and MGM.
