Walt Disney Pictures has released the trailer for the animated comedy The Wild at Disney Motion Showcase, where you can watch the clip in Flash format.

The film follows a teenage lion from the New York Zoo who gets accidentally shipped to Africa and freed. His friends at the zoo including an older lion, a giraffe, an anaconda, and a squirrel must unite to bring him back.

Featuring the voices of Kiefer Sutherland and Eddie Izzard, The Wild comes to theaters on April 14.

Seems like a Madagascar rip-off with some Finding Nemo thrown in to me....

All I can give it is that the graphics are considerably better than Madagascar. With that being said, it is definately an obvious Madagascar rip-off. And the whole lion being taken away screaming "daddy!" just screamed finding nemo. None of the humor was very funny at all. Terrible. Okay, I'll say it, the animation department is doomed.

I saw a trailer for this before King Kong. I too thought it looked a lot like Madagascar, but I was going to wait a see more of it before passing judgement.

Why would they greenlight something it's obvious it's gonna be trashed by both critics and the genral public for being a Madagascar rip-off? Just because they used "real looking" animation? Madagascar's "caricature" animation worked much better for the story.

I read on some other message boards that this movie actually isn't made by disney in-house. That Disney is only distributing it and it is being produced by a company in Toronto. Does anybody know if this is correct information? (I have to admit the first time I heard of this film was a preview before either King Kong or CON).

That is true, this feature is not produced by WDFA, much like Valiant, it is only distributed by the WDC. The next Walt Disney Feature produced in house is tentively titled "Meet the Robinsons"
