I knew that would get you here. Yesterday in my calendar they had a story about how the name Mickey came about. It said,
"Film legend Mickey Rooney claims he once introduced himself to Walt Disney when roaming the studios. "Thats a good looking mouse," the five-year-old Rooney said, looking at Disney's sketches. "It sure is, Mickey," replied Disney, getting thoughtful for a moment. Then, looking at the young actor, he asked if he'd like the mouse named after him. "Sure," Rooney said, "But first I gotta go get a tuna sandwich."
I always heard a different story. I was told the Walt's wife wanted to call the mouse Mickey but Walt wanted to call him Mortimer (I don't know how to spell that.) Does anyone know the true story?
