I know many of you have moved on from the original "Sims", but i haven't.
I just bougt the expansion pack that holds "Hot Date" and "Makin' Magic".
It was a good price, 20$.
There's a glitch in the system. I don't know if it's my system or theirs, but that's the point ot this thread.
Does anyone own this expansion pack? It's Expansion Pack II, I think.
If so, when you installed "Hot Date", did any of you find it took forever to get past 95% installation? What about when you put in the CD and clicked play...did you come up with it trying to access "Sims Vacation"?
Both of those apply to me.
Wanting to know before I try to exchange it for another, wanting to know if I should just spend my money elsewhere.

I had bought The Sims Double Deluxe back when I got the original Sims. What you might need to do is uninstall the expansions first. Make sure that you know what order the expansions were released in, as if you install them in the wrong order, it will cause this problem. If the only two you have are Hot Date and Makin' Magic, then Hot Date does need to be installed first. If you installed Makin' Magic first, that could explain the problem. Also, since I can't remember how many disks were used to install the expansion sets, one thing I've notices recently is that I've been putting the last disk in before it is actually ready when I install things sometimes, so if it is something to do with the last disk not installing quite right, then you might want to wait about 30 seconds after it asks for the final disk before you actually switch the disks. Hopefully, these will help to some degree.

Edit: The order of installation for EPs on The Sims is
1) Livin' Large
2) House Party
3) Hot Date
4) Vacation
5) Unleashed
6) Superstar
7) Makin' Magic

If you have any of these expansion packs aside from the two you mentioned then you need to make sure that they are installed in the proper order.

Okay, this thread is useless to me now. lol
I figured it out.
I just deleted all the "Sims" games, actually, uninstalled them, and started over, and now it seems to be working just fine.
Haven't got around to addnig "vacation" and "Livin' Large" yet, but will. Everything should be well.

Makes me have 6 extensions! Yay!
