Yes You heard me right, theres gonna be a holiday edition of the sims 2 expansion pack.. just in time for thanksgiving and christmas and other holidays.

October 11, 2005 - You didn't think your Sims would skip out on trick-or-treating or Christmas carols, did you? To keep your little simulacra happy this season, Electronic Arts has announced The Sims 2 Holiday Edition. Scheduled for release November 17, the special package offers The Sims 2 plus holiday-themed bonus content, such as fresh decorations, holiday dinners, visits from Santa, and the makings of a hot New Year's party.

Will this be an expansion pack or is it a re-release of the game itself with extra stuff? It sounds like the latter, but I could be wrong.

Actually, according to the Sims2 website, there are two things releasing. One is pretty much what would be referred to as a "Booster Pack" which will retail online for $14.99. This will have holiday themed items which I have heard numbers ranging from 28 to 40 items total. The second, The Sims2 Holiday Edition, will be a re-release of the original The Sims2 with all the extras from the Holiday Booster included in it. This should probably be retailing around $39.99-$49.99. These will have to be ordered online and will not be available in stores.

Edit: For those who already own The Sims 2 and don't want to purchase the Booster, a selection of around 12 of the holiday items will be available for download, free of charge from the Sims 2 website. This could be why some people consider it to only be 28 items, because technically you really would only have to pay for those that couldn't be downloaded for free.

Just a correction that I wanted to make, The Sims 2 Holiday Edition(Full game with the holiday items) will be available in stores on November 17. The Holiday "Booster Pack" thing will only be able to be ordered online and it sounds like just from the EA website.
