Having only stayed at three moderates, our preference is PORS...It has everything we are looking for,but it has one extra thing, one little bit of Pixie magic I call peacefulness..Apart from the main pool, where it can get loud in the afternoon with music and games. The whole atmosphere to me is laid back. That early morning view from the bridge looking south down the Sassagoula river is breathtaking. And taking the Mississippi Queen boat cruise to downtown is so tranquil.. The smell of fresh magnolia as the warm wind blows gently on my face makes me so relaxed,I could be in heaven.:hilarious: Maybe I am..And at the end of the day,as one million stars light up the sky high above my resort,I know that tomorrow will be a new adventure. To me it's like a Health Spa Resort..Not one morning do I wake up feeling depressed. So what resort gives you a magical peaceful feeling at WDW and why.?;)

All of the one I have stayed at, I stayed at PORS when it was Dixie landing and I experienced much of what you describe. I loved sitting in the lobby of the Wilderness Lodge and watching people experience the magic. I also love walking the resort in the early morning. However, I feel the same thing at the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian.

That would be our "home away from home", AKL. From the moment that you step onto the property, everything about it is quiet and relaxing. The African themed music that they play in the lobby and public areas puts you at ease. The smell that you get from Boma and Jiko are great. And then sitting on the balcony of your room and watching the wildlife roam right in front of you is the pinnacle of the experience.

When I first read the title, I thought it might have something to do with the Fairies of Pixie Hollow. ;) And my crazy mind is thinking, "but I haven't even seen that rumored for themed rooms."

As for the actual question, I'm still searching for it. Now, I've been quite vocal in my love of the Contemporary, but I think nostalgia and the fact that MK is right next door factor greatly into all of that. Who knows, maybe AKL will be it. Although, I got some really strong pixie dust vibes in BW last year. So, if we can make it there next October...that may be it. So, we shall see.

I think I have found the pixie dust at all the resorts I've stayed at. There is a magical quality about them all that makes me relax and enjoy the fact that I'm at Disney. Like at CBR it is the island in the middle to explore, WL the babbling brook that starts in the lobby, the gingerbread carousel at the Beach Club, the smell of the lobby & the tiki torches at the Poly, and at CS the big Mayan pyramid....

I have experienced the pixie dust effect at each resort I have stayed at in WDW.

CBR - first trip so naturally I was on a pixie dust high! I loved the walk from the food court back to our Pirate themed room. It was nice to walk by the river at night to feel the breeze and hear all of the little sounds that accompany a night in Florida.

POFQ - the gentleman who greets people at the door is simply a bundle of pixie dust himself He makes you feel so happy to be there. I also love walking the streets at night and feeling all nestled in with the trees swaying all around me.

POR - feeling like I have stepped into another place and time completely. I love riding the surrey bikes first thing in the morning. Exploring the beauty surrounding the many paths and walkways gives me a such a peaceful feeling inside.

Poly - sitting on the beach and watching Wishes.

CSR - resting in a hammock on the beach.

AoA - seeing the look on my daughter's face as she explores the resort, knowing that she's experiencing the pixie dust effect too. :joyfull:

AKL - the wonderment and beauty of it all. This resort has been the most magical, pixie dusted place of all:)

Thanks hatter for making me think about all of my great memories at WDW resorts.

Hmmm.If there ever was an idea for a theme room, you've discovered it.And I know what resort requires it.." Contemporary " Ive always found this resort to be the least Disneyesk..Can you just imagine a Pixie theme room over looking MK..Wow! New thread on its way.:joyfull:

I have to agree with everything you said about Riverside! I just love that place. I could also say the same about French Quarter... it may be a lot smaller, but it has that charm that no other WDW resort that I've stayed in yet has. You really feel as if you are far away from any sort of real world at these 2 resorts, in WDW alone! They do such an amazing job with the themese at each resort.. POR/FQ are truly spot on!

We hear a lot of great things about WL having that great feel to it, and I am hoping to stay there next year.
