Walt Disney Productions went public (sold stock) in 1940 and has remained a public stock ever since. No one person currently owns more than 3% of the company stock. Institutional investors (mutual funds, 401 k, etc.) own 65% of the stock. In short, the company is owned by small investors like me and grizzlyhall!
