The Original Chester and Hester?

I found this interesting tidbit about the characters of Dinorama. Don't know if it is true or not. According to this website dedicated to character autographs, T-Rex was once known as Chester http://home.att.net/~disneysue/characters/wdw/trex.html and Roxie was once known as Hester http://home.att.net/~disneysue/characters/wdw/roxie.html. Chester and Hester today are face characters and not dinosaurs, isn't that right? And they've set up Dinorama as a roadside carnival next to a dino dig. Can anyone confirm that Chester and Hester used to be dino characters?

Chester and Hester have always been the people who set up Dino-Rama (and before that they just owned Chester and Hester's Dinosaur Treasures). Chester and Hester usually only appear during special events (conventions), along with some of their cousins. Years ago they made regular appearances during the day (in the days of the Dinosaur Jubilee...). I believe there are about 5-7 streetmosphere characters total.

The dinosaur characters are new and have replaced Carno and Connie Taurus. I didn't even know the new dinos had names until just now. Maybe some greeter was just calling them Chester and Hester and didn't realize those characters already exist?

I definitely recall the dinos being called Chester and Hester in the "early years," though you are right in saying that could have just been a miscommunication with CMs--clearly it wasn't an isolated occurrence if others have communicated a similar experience in the parks.

Now they have regular Chester and Hester characters.

I believe the picture of the real Chester and Hester husband and wife paleotologists can be seen in the hallway where the bathrooms are located in Restaurantosaurus.
