The Old- Disney Village Marketplace
The New-Downtown Disney

Personally I think Disney Village Marketplace sounds better. Downtown Disney makes me think of a city, with all of the dirtiness that goes along with it. DVM, to me, sounds more like a relaxing place to go.

I like Disney Village Marketplace becuase is sounds more disney theme like..... put downtown disney name somewhere in Celebration City.

There isnt really a name change....

The Downtown Disney area incorporates....

- The Marketplace
- Pleasure Island
- The West Side

Yep, nothing's CHANGED. It's just been added to. I really enjoy both Downtown Disney and its marketplace.

I like the name Downtown Disney better it is just easier to say and it is a much better name. I'v always referred to it as Downtown Disney.

Do you think they will eventually build an EastSide too? What do you think they will put in it? I reckon they might add a Disney Musical sooner or later like Beauty and the Beast. I dont think they would add the lion king because of the show at Animal Kingdom being much newer than the small beauty and the beast one at MGM...? what do you all think?

I like Downtown Disney because it links all three sides together.

It's the same reason I like that they called Dixie Landings Port Orleans. It brings the overall theme together.

Well thats true, downtown disney is a lot easier to say and remember. I like how disney added the WestSide area and Pleasure Island becuase it gives the "world" something extra and for younger people like myself.

I like Downtown Disney. It shows disney's idea of what a city OUGHT to be like...clean, fun, and filled with Mickey. It used to be the "village marketplace" but now it's not...simply b/c the area grew so much that it's now a city. Downtown Disney Marketplace...or...Disney's Downtown Marketplace, if you like.

Downtown Disney is a more propitious name for the whole place right now. Disney Village Marketplace would not include the West Side or Pleasure Island features, so Downtown Disney fits perfect.
Anyway, the shopping area is still called "The Marketplace".

Yup...they wanted the entire area to be looked at as one place. Get people moving to all three areas.

My vote...

I like Downtown Disney. It has a nice ring to it. It just sorta rolls off the tongue. I'd like to see an East Side too though.

I think "Disney Village Marketplace" was a better name because it sounds much more inviting and fun than "Downtown Disney". When people hear the word "Downtown" what comes to mind is that the place is dirty, expensive, and dangerous.
