The Muppets

With the upcoming release of the new movie, I was wondering if anyone has heard anything regarding some sort of Muppet revival over at WDW. I remember a few years ago it looked like they were going to give them a bit of a push, but that wound up being extremely disappointing.

I won't even get greedy and ask for new attractions (although an improvement to the 3d show shouldn't be too much to ask), but at the very least will we see more merchandise and characters around the parks? I love the muppets, and quite frankly the store outside the ride in DHS is flat out depressing. Actually, what Disney has done with what was such a great franchise is down right depressing.

Probably no updates to the 3D attraction. Wasn't it Jim Henson's last project or something? I think more people would be upset than happy if it was taken down.

i wouldn't expect anything too major to change in DHS any time soon. I saw a preview for the new movie and frankly it looks like a tanker.

Really? I thought it actually looked like it could be a return to form. I have loved the muppets since before I can remember and I have been a huge critic of almost all of the post x-mas carol work. Obviously previews that look good can deceive and the movie could very well stink. That said, the muppets have been out of form for so long now that even if the movie is good, it could still tank anyway.

The Jim Henson people might actually be happy with that as they asked Disney to remove Jim Henson's name from the attraction as to why the balloon got repainted recently.

I just hope that the movie does well so that Muppet Vision gets the upgrades that it needs!

The initial screening reviews have been very positive with "return to form" being thrown about a lot. I have high hopes!

I also recall quiet a few ways back that another living character project called the Mobile Electric Mayhem was to happen...But nothing has surfaced..Same thing when everyone thought Stage 1 was to get the what-not-workshop.

I loved the previews; both the teaser and the full trailer. When I saw the teaser 5 or 6 months ago (I can't remember what it was attached to) the appearance of Kermit was a total surprise and the audience really ate it up. Hoops and Yells of excitement from all. I think having Jason Segel attached to it was a stroke of genius.

So I think that it's got the potential to break out the muppets into mainstreet america again. I really hope it does well. I miss those guys. (And pigs, and rats and bears and whatever Gonzo is)

Agreed! I grew up watching The Muppet Show and would love to see the Muppets introduced to a new audience! Really hoping the new movie will be funny/entertaining/wonderfully strange as the Muppets should be! :sohappy:
