There have been a lot of discussion about the Walt Disney Company acquiring the Jim Henson Company. Last I heard was that they offered $300 million and parts of their archives of animated hits.

I guess it's not easy being green.

Disney announced a buying of the Muppets back in 1989 but after Jim Henson's death, the deal broke of in litagation lawsuits against Disney for pressing the Henson family too hard. Now after EM.TV (Germany) bought them, they have to sell them because of poor stock. Viacom, AOL/Time Warner and Disney are fighting for them but Disney always seems to be in the lead. It should be settled in a couple of monthes, so hold on!

The last I read was that members of the Henson company may try to buy the company themselves.

They are trying to do that because they don't want Disney to take over their creative control. They think that they will fire the old experienced men for new and less experienced people who will work cheap. The bank is refusing to give the $300 million needed because they haven't had a huge hit in years. MUPPETFEST is to gain the public's support so some guy with deep pockets will help them out. I bet it will back fire when Disney executives see how gaga the public is for the muppets and bid even more money for them.
