The Mountains, appropriate for a 6 year old?

I think it all depends on the child. I took my 6 yo neice and she wanted to ride everything, however, my brother (her dad) never wanted to ride anything when we were young. My dad forced him on them and he was petrified! It totally ruined it for him and til this day (he's 32), he will not ride the rides b/c of the bad experience he had as a child. It's crazy to me since he likes to drive his car like a maniac! hah! Anyway, I like the idea someone gave about having them watch the vids, but my advise would def be to let them choose on their own whether to ride or not!

My daughter has been riding both Splash and Thunder since she was 3 (tall enough to ride). We held off on Space Mountain until last year when she was 7 just because its dark and she would have to sit in a seat by herself and could not hold my hand. She started riding Dinosaur and EE when she was 4 and rode RocknRoller Coaster when she was 6. But she has always been quite adventurous. She still does not want to ride TOT. I'm trying to encourage her, but if she doesnt want to ride I'm not going to force her even though I know she will love it.

All kids are different. My daughter loves all the coasters including RnR and Everest, but is scared of HM, ITtBAB, and Dinosaur. You won't know until you're there. The kid will let you know if they are ready. If they aren't ready and you push them, it is possible to wind up in the boat where the kid doesn't want to do any rides and that is not a good boat to be in.

Edit: See above.

My DD5 is exactly the same way. Loves Big Thunder and Splash, but HM? Too scared.

She loves the thrills, but her imagination gets away from her if it's scary.

I'm hoping she can do TOT for the first time this trip. She'll love the drop, but she may be too scared by the theming and story.

Mine will be 3.5 and will be tall enough when we go. She LOVES all those "drop" rides so I know she'd be all over that aspect of it. She hates the "tame" kiddie ones she's been on at times. The set up is what has me nervous. We will see how scary the Haunted Mansion is for her take it from there. (The dark spooky I think would be the issue)
