The Most Epic Birthday Surprise TR

Hi there guys! Well it's been about a month since we returned from Disney so I think it's a good time to start our trip report! Let me introduce you to the two of us:

That's my DB Danny & Me, Sara on our way to the Disneyworld resort on the MCO monorail!

Now if you know anything about me it's my OBSESSION with Disney. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't talk about something Disney related. Haha. So when my DB asked what I wanted for my 22nd birthday, a trip to Disney was the first thing I could think of. So TWO, yes TWO weeks before my birthday we planned the best little trip ever! We originally were going to go to Disneyland as flights from JFK to LAX were actually reasonable, however the Halloween party tickets were all sold out for the days we were going to be there, so we crunched some numbers and decided we could do Disneyworld instead (not like i'm complaining!) I went online to see which Value resorts were available, and it seemed as though every time I refreshed the page, rooms were disappearing or selling out on the reservation page, so we went down to my lovely AAA agent here in Connecticut and she booked everything for us. Last year we stayed at the Pop Century and absolutely loved it. We were in the 50s building, so we were close to the bus stops and we just loved the overall feel about it. Well since we were booking so close to our departure date, our options were quite limited. We decided on an All Star Music room, as my DB is a DJ and I thought he'd appreciate that. Not going to lie I was REALLY bummed that the BRAND new AoA Little Mermaid section wasn't available, but I was so ecstatic to be going in the first place that I didn't even care where we stayed. So we booked a trip right then and there for a trip from Sunday October 21st until Wednesday Oct 24th. My birthday was that Thursday but I had to work on the weekend so we left bright & early Sunday.
So, I set all my ADR's (I had NO problem booking any of them for the times I wanted! Maybe because there was only 2 of us?) And started reading the blogs about the possibility of the New Fantasyland to be open during our stay (most people said zero to none because of the Cast Member Previews :() A few days later, I decided to go back online to the Reservation website to see if our hotel had sold out, and when I clicked Value, up came a room for an AoA Little Mermaid room! Was I dreaming?! I immediately bombarded my AAA agent with emails and calls and told her if switching to that room wasn't going to cost much more to book the room! She eventually called me back and told me it was going to be $20 more to upgrade and that she went ahead and booked the room for me! I was literally shaking with excitement. My DB...well not so much haha. Alright well that's the backround of this TR. Next up is Day 1!!! :D

Day 1:
We left around 430amish here to make our 6am flight to the sunny and wonderful Orlando!!! Our flight was supposed to land around 920am but somehow we made it there around 850am instead! We were using DME so we got right off the plane and walked over to the DME terminal, first stopping to take a picture:

Then it was back on our way to DME. Since we decided to switch rooms, we got the All Star Movie passes in our DME book instead of AoA, but they just gave us a new slip once we got there.

Ah! Seeing this sign I almost had a heart attack! I wasn't really excited before the trip, maybe it's because it was so last minute I didn't have time to sike myself out haha. But as soon as I saw this sign I almost cried. I couldn't believe we were here! What a GREAT birthday present :D
We boarded the bus with about 20 other people & we were off!

Inside the bus on our way to AoA!!

Now a few days before I did the online check-in and called AoA to make sure our travel agent put King size bed on our request. Last year at Pop we got a handicapped King size room and we thought the accommodations were great! We were just hoping that we would luck out again and get a king room! The front desk cast member said they had us down for a king room request and they would try their magic to get us one!

We've arrived!!!!!!!!!!!
We went into the lobby and thank goodness we decided to do online check in! It was about 930 at this point and I felt like everyone was arriving at once. The online check in line had about 20 people less in it than the regular check in and we only waited for about 5-10 minutes before we were ready to check in! Last year at the Pop our rooms weren't ready which kinda stunk because we wanted to freshen up before our traditional first day at Hollywood Studios, but this year our room was ready! And we got a king size room!! We were in the King Triton side of the Little Mermaid section on the 4th floor.
We went and picked up our Refillable Mugs (Is anyone else sad they took away the other snack?! We used our mugs TWICE throughout the trip, when we checked in and checked out. I'm not sure what everyone else thinks but I much would've preferred that second snack on the DP!)
Now I read alot about how far the walk was to the LM section, and while it wasn't the best, especially after long days at the park it wasn't that bad.
We trekked all the way to our room, opened the door with the new RFID locks and I was blown away by all the detail the room had to offer.
I'm sure as most of you who've stayed at a Value know, aside from the outside details, the rooms seem to lack any real theme, except for a border near the ceiling, however this room was PACKED with details!

We took more pictures later on when we got back from HS, but I was so excited to go to the parks that we dropped everything off, freshened up and we were on our way to the park!
But not before we took some pictures of the scenery and GREAT larger than life AoA decorations!

We walked over to the buses and waited about 5 minutes before our HS bus came!!
Next up! Our first day at the park!!!! :D

Day 1: Hollywood Studios!!!
We try to hit Hollywood Studios first every time we go, and it's just because both this year and last year they had the EMH on the first day. So we arrived at the park around 11-1130 and we booked it for Fastpasses to Toy Story Midway Mania. I know ALOT of you hate that ride on here haha but it's one of me and my DB's favorites. Last year when we got there all the FP's were gone so we knew what we had to do.

We didn't stop to take any pictures on the way until we reached Pixar Place. We've arrived! We got our FP for 825-900 which was perfect because we had ADR at 50s Prime Time Cafe for 915!
After getting our FP we made our way over to get lunch at Fairfax Fare & Catalina Eddie's. I forgot to take a picture of our lunch, as we were both STARVING but I got a pepperoni pizza and the best caesar salad i'd ever had! Maybe it was because I was so hungry, but I loved the croutons and the dressing was great. Danny got the chicken with baked beans and coleslaw at Fairfax Fare. After lunch we made our way over to the Great Movie Ride.

We ALWAYS get the gangster side. I don't even know what the cowboy side is like anymore
After that we decided to walk around a bit where we found our first Photopass photographer!

I love those pictures with the effects! After taking some pictures, we went into the hat store where I ordered my Birthday ears! They said it would take a few hours as there were alot of people ahead of me. So we went in a few more stores. I wish I liked caramel and candy apples, but for some reason I HATE them! But they all looked so good!

We then decided to go to The Magic of Animation building. But not before stopping for some more pictures.

Great TR so far! Can't wait to read more. I'm glad you got the ADRs you wanted. I booked my December trip about 45 days out and I finally have most of the ADRs that I want, but it took a lot of work on my part checking multiple times of day to get them. It didn't help that I am taking my 4 year old and all of the meals we wanted were the same character meals that everyone else wanted too! We are staying at CBR and I saw on the ME sign that your bus went there too. Do you remember what order they went to the resorts?

Yes! It was CB first then Pop then AoA. By the time AoA came I was feeling quite anxious. Haha. And that's what we did with both our hotel and our ADRs. I wonder why one day it said it was all booked/sold out and the next day they have multiple availabilities. I can't imagine that many people are canceling?
