The Land Escalator Replacement?

Please delete if already discussed. I'm using my phone to post on Delta's wifi at 30,000 feet and couldn't do the greatest job searching :).

I saw over at screamscape that the escalators at The Land are scheduled soon for replacement and was curious if anybody here is able to verify?

While obviously welcome news, you have to question the timing!

Anyway, I hope it's true!

They really need to do this. The current ones are chronically broken. Why question the timing, though? It's summer, so we don't want to close too many rides, but these are escalators. People can use the stairs...I feel like summer is an ideal time for projects like this when they don't want to close down too many actual attractions.

If DL can function without BTMRR all summer, I think we can function without two escalators (of which one or the other is usually broken anyway).

Yup - and if WDW would get the FP machines for Soarin out FRONT, or on the top floor, I suspect they would be in much better shape. Just a personal observation - but I think a good 45% of the traffic is to GET to the FP machines, and another 45% to get BACK to Soarin.
Agreed, but it'll never fly. They love that once you get you FP for 8 hrs from now, you are standing next to a gift shop and a food court (and an underrated boat ride with minimal wait).

I would like them to as well!! When we were there Tuesday they worked when we went in and had lunch then when we came back to ride soarin they were broke. I would think an escalator fix wouldn't be that hard of a job to do?

Funny you ask that.. because originally operations wanted to use part of the upcoming Livin' with the Land refurb budget to pay for it.. But that ain't happ-nin.

Escalators are coming from the maintenance cost overhead budget.. with the LwtL refurb budget being left alone...

And FYI, the refurb of LwtL is a track scrap/repaint and a general clean up.. nothing spectacular.. Rotational refurb, as it were..

will they label it as a new attraction? or will it be classified as entertainment.

Well, there will be concept art of the new escalators at D23. So, they're probably waiting on August to start work.

But, will this constitute the conventions major project announcement, or will Avatar necessarily be scaled back to just some restrooms and a pin cart?

Thanks for the info, I guess some tlc to the ride is better than no attention at all. At least someone put their foot down and wouldnt allow the budget to go for escalators.... Now how about a budget for maelstrom?
