Just got this from Animated Movies:
- Samuel L. Jackson will reportedly provide the voice for the main arch-nemesis in Pixar's THE INCREDIBLES, while other cast members would include Craig T. Nelson as Mr. Incredible, Jason Lee, Holly Hunter and Wallace Shawn.
- Tina Turner will perform "Great Spirits" as the opening song of the BROTHER BEAR soundtrack, which will be released on October 21. Phil Collins will provide five additional new songs.
- Julie Kavner is tipped to play Timon's Mom while Jerry Stiller will voice Timon's Uncle Max in THE LION KING 1 1/2.
- Mickey will make his official digital debut in November 2004's direct-to-video TWICE UPON A CHRISTMAS. "The movement of Mickey to 3-D was hotly debated," said Andy Mooney, president of Disney Consumer Products. "There's a group of folks internally who believe that 2-D animation is the correct form in which to portray Mickey. I don't think embalming is a good thing. I think the brand needs to be rejuvenated to be relevant to the future."
- Head of animation Ann Daly admitted that DreamWorks was "extremely disappointed" with SINBAD's performance at the U.S. box office, noting that it would be the studio's last traditionally drawn film. "I think the idea of a traditional story being told using traditional animation is likely a thing of the past," added Jeffrey Kaztenberg.
- Director Rob Minkoff said that THE HAUNTED MANSION "is meant to be like a ghost story in the classic sense." He and his production team were allowed to walk through the ride at Disneyland, with all the lights on, for inspiration.
- Disney's HOME ON THE GRANGE received a PG rating--for brief mild rude humor--supposedly mostly due to Roseanne's lines.
- MICKEY, DONALD, GOOFY: THE THREE MUSKETEERS will go straight to video next summer since Disney did not want to take the financial risk of a theatrical release, which would have required a much higher level of animation.
- An insider reports that THE THREE MUSKETEERS is "absolutely great, with Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Minnie, Daisy and especially Pete all acting in character, but somehow feeling totally modern."
- Disney's David Stainton confirmed that he has teams developing CG adaptations of RAPUNZEL and THE SNOW QUEEN.
- PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN will be released on DVD this December, with a treasure chest of extras.
- Special Edition re-releases of ALICE IN WONDERLAND, POCAHONTAS, and LILO & STITCH, are rumored to hit U.S. stores January 27, 2004.
- Disney confirmed that the new attraction Mickey's PhilarMagic will be launching in Orlando this December.
