USA Today is reporting that The Incredibles! shattered some Disney box office records over the weekend:

"The story of a suburban superhero family shattered several records, including the largest debut for Disney, which distributed it. Disney's previous high was last year's Finding Nemo, which opened at $70.3 million."

The Incredibles! grossed 70.7 million. Boy, you just have to bet that there are some within the Disney ranks that are hoping that a deal with Pixar can still be salvaged, with or without Eisner...

Actually, it means the film under performed. Incredibles, The is number 16 on the list and WAY behind Shrek 2! In reality, this was a rather weak showing. However, let's wait. Perhaps it will gain some speed. Pixar is not happy with the numbers and neither is Disney.

We went to see this movie tonight and....WOW!!! It was great:) In the long run I think the numbers will be fine. A great deal of the problem with a slow start may come from the fact that people are actually protesting this movie. It seems that the same camp that has a hard time with the Harry Potter series is also boycotting the Incredibles because of the violence, specifically violence to the children in the movie. There is a good deal of vioence but for those of you who haven't seen it yet, the violence isn't any more or less what you see on cartoon network. My 6yr old loved it and laughed the whole way through. This movie will probably be a "word of mouth" movie. Therefore, it's numbers will improve the longer it is out.

I really enjoyed it! It had quite a bit of adult humor. Two little old ladies sat in front of me and when they started laughing, they couldn't stop. Kinda made the whole theater laugh! The animation is "incredible", but that's a given. My friends took their 5 year old daughter, and some of the scenes were a bit scary for her. Otherwise, it gets 5 stars!

That's just plain silly.. You can't expect every movie release to be a top seller. I just can't seem to understand why this is under performance..

Well, for starters, Shrek 2 was a sequel! However, we still have to wait awhile. This movie could be a real sleeper and actually improve with some time. So far, besting Nemo by .4 million is a rather shallow event in the anals of animated film debuts. You can bet that both Eisner and Jobs have their "bear suits" on!
