The Haunted Mansion

I have a few connections through someone at a movie theatre and was able to get ahold of a Haunted Mansion movie poster. Its really nice! A double sided one, so that when you shine a light through the back, the image is illuminated. Really nice. I hope the film is decent. Disney has a really good chance to tell the story that only true blue Disney fans know is told in the ride.

Yup, Eddie Murphy, and don't look for too many connections. I don't think this is the movie anyone is expecting. That's not to say it won't be good. Who knows, it could be awesome!

Sweet - its shooting in my hometown (New Orleans).

Now that I think about it - the City's Film Commission has been hinting that a major production company was going to be filming in the city.

"who ya gonna call? someone else"

:brick: geez!!! the ghostbusters took on a 100 foot marshmellow man for cripes sake! they defeated an evil magacian bent on ruling the world...but three mischevious ghosts? on no! too tough for me! i like the idea of incorporating the ghostbusters in it, it was nice yes, but it disgraced their name!

Mmmm Christina Ricci... she was hotter in Sleepy Hollow though.

Hmm, they should have taken out Eddie Murphy, even though he does a great job in the Beverly Hills Cop movies, Trading Places, etc. etc., and made this somewhat scary. Get some unknown actor/actress to do it. They could have made it like Stephen Kings Rose Red.

Just an idea...

You may all object to this but i would of liked more of a grown up type movie like signs with being a 12a certificate over here.

I wouldn't like it to be a family movie because i know not much of the intricate plot to the ride will be shown.

Also as much as eddie is great i think he will make this movie seem a little lighter and make it a halerious movie wich is a shame because even though the mansion is a little light hearted it still is very coarse in its horror style.

If it were my way i would of made this movie very macarbe and dark maybe getting tim burton (fantastic director/artist) to take part in making it.

Cast... non of the teen movie people! people like christina ricci etc would do nicely.

that's what my whole movie was going to be like. not a kiddie good feeling movie. but a freaky, oh my god, swearing (PG 13 here folks) movie. ehre's the basic plot i had:

opening- see the mansion owner and wife being killed off (reminscent of Phantom)
opening credits- PM music in background
movie: teacher on tour of historic town, showing the haunted mansion. one kid objects t the mansion being haunted. later that day or week, some point at night, the four teens head to mansion the objector to prove mansion is not haunted. get trapped have to find way out, ending has a surprise. i even had the scenes in my head. it would be dark. surround sound would make it creepy as hell. i would have added a few things...an attack in the library...blood filled well that starts spewing it.

Thats horribly morbid! lol

no... i would see the haunted mansion "in my head" as being a lot more classier no swearing, no movie gets that much good ratings cus of swearing.

Also i meant no really cheesy teen movie cast...

I also wouldn't set it in the present day. it would be more like the mansion when it was built and what happened to all the people.

it would be very stylised in colour work maybe what tim burton used for sleepy hollow using a blue lens to give that black and white feel...

also using phsycological moments using sound like "the others" to make it jumpy and keep the age certificate to maybe a 12/15.

But anyway i'm not correcting your own movie this is what i would like my movie to bee seen as :)

Tim Burton would own this movie! He would make it great! I LOVE his stuff. His best thing is Sleepy Hollow though.

I also would like it to be more like a scary-type movie. The ride, though quite comical at times is really supposed to be scary. Like I said before, I say don't get anybody famous to do it, just get some unknown actor/actress and people will like it a lot more.

If they really had to get somebody famous I would get like Ricci and Devon Sawa maybe?? Both were in Casper and are great in horror movies. They could be newlyweds and get haunted at the house or something. I think that would make a much better plot.

sutable cast....

sorry for steering off the topic a bit. but i think its really interesting with people coming up with their own ideas for a haunted mansion film.

A sutable cast...

well of course we'd have ricci it just says old fashioned horror movie all over her face.

then we have a look at Devon... he's a bit of a hmmmmm? he seems more of a teen slasher person not horror.

one person who would be really good in this movie would be kate hudson. she has a flare a quality and has horror movie written all over her. Also johnny depp of course because well he is the horror movie king.

most of the cast is usually male too so... thats hard to pick and their all mostly old too.

1-the mansion itself is used as modern day...with a movie of just killing off 999 people, it would become a historical piece mixed with a slasher film. not that it isn't a good idea but that's the feel i get. making it modern makes it more believeable

2-this is not your average cheesy teen cast. i pretty much would base one of the characters off of myself (i'm 18 you know) and i am FAR from cheesy. that's why it's late teens, late teens are on the verge of adulthood which give them (us) an opperunity and plenty of space to grow. also, look at all these "cheesy teen casts" they're in large groups. i don't think four people is a fairly large group. plus, with four people you can split them up easily 6 is too many. 2 is too few and so is three...with three you can have 1 group, 1 gorup 1 person or all singles...1 group is too many in one place... a couple and single will get you to worried about that one giving it more of a mystery feeling than i would intend and all singles wouldn't work, you'd only get one emotion from each scene.

3-someone mentioned swearing is not good for movies. boo-hoo...have you talked to teens lately? thanks to this new music called..uh...rap was it...(more like crap) the words uttered from HUNDREDS upon THOUSANDS of teens is enough to make your head spin...but i wouldn't have them run around the mansion say f this f that! A**, B***H and maybe one S**T. that's all. enough to keep them REAL teens. there would be suspense in my film...there would have been freaky feelings...like that attack in the library scene where the 2 male characters are reading something...with no sound....no music...they're reading something...then all of a sudden, one Says something like Holy, or oh...then the attack comes not from one place but all around, but the word uttered is almost to soft that it isn't heard but it is. give the audience a double take...long enough to realize what he said before the attack comes... a .5 second or a full second.

4-this idea never got onto paper entirely...disney felt the haunted mansion shuld be done in the good feel movie of the 21st centuary. i'm just posting what i had an idea for the film that stayed true to the mansion in more respects and ways then the version being put out. since it was never really put on paper this is all i have. visuals in my head of how the movie would be done. someone offered to me that i should change the storyline and sell it elsewhere like universal or WB but i can't and won't. why? i see the HM not something else.

sorry for the long post just wanted to put my opinion out there.

HMGhost13... I like the idea. It reminds a small bit of The Haunting were the house is alive.

(And although its a cheesy movie I like it)

well, of course it wouldn't be alive the house that is...but thankfully someone likes the idea.
