Well, if you didn't know already, The Haunted Mansion was released today on DVD. The movie, which has gone on to gross over $142 million worldwide, is also said to be the final movie based on an attraction (excluding the sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean).

Here's a list of some of the special features:

-Deleted Scenes
-Bloopers
-Haunted Mansion Attraction Virtual Tour- Exploring the Mansion with Ghost Guides Emma and Ezra
-Raven "Superstition" music video
-"The Making of the Mansion"- A behind-the-scenes look at the making of The Haunted Mansion
-Anatomy of a Scene- Ghost in the Graveyard
-Audio Commentaries

I think it was a great movie and will definitely be picking it up on DVD. :D

They really need to have put in the Wonderful World of Disney special from the opening of the attraction at Disneyland. The special was shown on Vault Disney's Walt Disney Presents several times (before we lost "The (Real) Disney Channel"), and it was cool. It featured a young Kurt Russell and the Osmond Brothers touring the park and talking about the new attraction.

They put a similar feature on the Pirates DVD; so I don't know why it is not included here.

Yep....this was only one disc. My mom went out and bought it for me, and to my surprise, it was a one-disc set. I was hoping for a two-disc DVD like Pirates of the Caribbean. Too bad there's limited special features, though the Virtual Tour sounds good, so I'll have to check that out.

Nope, it was a deleted scene. Only one, singular. :p

I am disappointed with the dvd. When you look at all the great extras the POTC dvd had, the HM dvd is a letdown. At least I still have The Haunted Mansion: From Magic Kingdom to the Movies. That book is a must for any HM fan.

as a haunted mansion fan you've all seen my views on the movie.

it sucked. i rank Plan 9 from Outer Space higher than the HM movie. (for those who don't know P9FOS was voted the WORSE movie ever made).

anyway.

there's nothing that strikes me as a must buy with this. not event he special features. yawn, snore. when does PoTC 2 come out?

I really didn't enjoy that movie too much! I'm glad a sequel isn't in the making for this aswell!

hell i'll be up for a sequal.

if they either A-let tim burton do it or B-let an actual FAN of the RIDE do it and use the materials from the ride (and story) to make the movie how it should have been.

wouldn't let you take pictures for legal reasons i assume.
and i really doubt it. remember all the ghosts went to "Heaven"

as Comic Book Guy would say "Worse plot ending EVER!"

and i'm sorry the bad outweighs the good in this movie. if there is a sequeal i needs to be PG-13 and stick to the ride. Pirates ahd more from the ride than HM did. the whole "plot within a plot" was stupid and ill-conceived.

Yea...I wasn't a giant fan of the movie either. Just little things could of been changed, and it would of been much better. There was an old HM movie sight (official Disney site) that had almost an alternative script for the movie. With a underground gold trade with pirates I believe. It sounded MUCH better and more exciting. One thing that was great in this movie was the visuals and costumes. They did a great job on that. The plot was just dumb. They could of done a much better job...

another thing that I think hurt the film was the fact that, not everyone knew this movie was based on a ride. Given that, half of the ride references made no sense to them, and the blue ghosts are not exactly a special effects breakthrough. The movie was just underwhelming, badly acted, and seemed a little rushed...

I really liked the end though, with the singing busts on the car. They could of made the singing heads a strong point in the movie, because I thought those were the best characters.
