The ipod was bought from eCost (freeipods.com buy them from there) by Gratis Internet (freeipods.com's owner) IT WAS BRAND NEW!!! Came with everything, they shipped my order a day before they started giving out the new 4th Gen ipods.....the newer (4th Gens) come with a USB 2.0 cable, so windows users don't have to worry...

This is the box that the freeipod came in. Track the shipping number that is on the box at www.ups.com and see that it was delivered on the 21st of July.
This does work, and I wouldn't be telling people about it if it doesn't...here are the instructions to get your own.

NOTE: I AM THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR OF THIS STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE, THE THINGS YOU SEE ON eBay ARE ALL COPIED FROM ME. I STARTED THIS ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO (7.12.04) AND HAVE SUCCESSFULLY RECEIVED ONE FREE iPod on 7.21.04. I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON MY SECOND.
1. Click on this link: http://www.freeiPods.com/default.aspx?referer=7229005
2. Sign up at freeipods.com, be sure to provide a valid email address (or Junk e-mail if your SPAM worried, just make sure it is one of yours because you will need to verify it) and home address and whatnot. If you messed up, you can change the information before your iPod is mailed to you.
3. After signing up and confirming your email, you have to sign up for one of their affiliated offers (This is how freeipods.com makes their money; through advertising). It's your choice on what you sign up with, but if you follow my guide, you can get out of this without paying a cent. (Don't get scared! This is the part I feared the most too, but if you follow this guide then you will have nothing to worry about)
4. Choose the Ancestry Site. Unlike all the other services, IMMEDIATELY after you sign up for the ancestry site, your account will get credited with signing up for the offer, this means you can cancel the service immediately and you'll get credit for it.
5. Sign up for the ancestry site. You WILL need your credit card to sign up for it, but if you follow this guide and cancel the service within two weeks, your card wont get charged a cent. Immediately after you sign up, your account will get credited, which means the ancestry site means nothing, unless you wanna dig up your ancestors =P.
PLEASE NOTE: BEFORE YOU GET ALL SCARED BECAUSE YOU NEED TO USE YOUR CREDIT CARD KNOW THAT YOU ARE NOT GIVING YOUR CREDIT CARD TO THE IPOD SITE. YOU ARE GIVING IT TO WWW.ANCESTRY.COM. YOU WILL HAVE A TWO WEEK PERIOD IN WHICH YOU CAN CALL THEIR SERVICE AND CANCEL IT, THUS GETTING CREDITED WITHOUT PAYING A PENNY. IT IS FOOL-PROOF IF YOU DO SO!
6. Once you've signed up, you need to call this number: 1-800-262-3787 and pick option 4.
7. You're gonna speak to a representative to cancel your service. Say your name...and that you want to cancel. They're going to ask you for your e-mail address that you used to sign up with the service. They will then look up their account. When I canceled my service they didn’t argue with me at all. I said I wanted to cancel it, and they gave me a confirmation number. If they do insist that you keep with the service or even upgrade, just hold to your word and keep saying you wish to cancel. In the end they'll cancel it and give you your confirmation number. You're done!
8. Now let’s work on getting those 5 referrals! There are many options here, you can do an ad on eBay just like where you found this one. The cost to put a listing on eBay is 30 cents!! Isn’t that so much better than paying 247 bucks for an iPod….So, list away….Just copy steps 1-7 BUT use your referral link instead of mine. You can also choose to e-mail 5 of your closest friends that you think would do this.
9. ANOTHER TIP: Have family members sign up or give the link to all your co-workers.
10. Once you have 5 friends/people sign up and complete an offer your choice of iPod will be UPSed to you from eCost.com or Apple (depending on whether you got an iPod or a Mini) within 3 days (iPod) or a week to 4 weeks (Mini).
