Just a tip for MGM.. avoid eating at the counter restaurant on Sunset... "Rosie's" that food is absolutely awful.... I normally crave the chicken strips at Disney, these tasted like crap.. and the burger was as good as a hockey puck.. this is the second time we tried it w/ the same results... :hurl:

I like Rosie's too -- just ate there in December and there chicken tenders were the same as everyone else's. Though I think with the awesome topping bar that Pecos Bill's has the best burgers going now!

Mmmmm -- now I'm craving fried chicken. Time for lunch!

We just got back from WDW and didn't eat at Rosie's because of similar posts about its food.

Instead we tried the Back Lot Express and had excellent huge Hot Dogs and Grilled Hamburgers. Their fries weren't bad either.

Chicken strips were on the menu as well but we didn't order. My kids had already hit their quota for the week.

Next time try Back Lot Express. Not gourmet but nicely executed fast food.

I do agree with you there Disneynutcase! Until Pecos Bill's got their redesigned toppings bar with someone cooking the onions and peppers right there in front of you, Backlot Express was our favorite burger joint on Disney property. Backlot Express also has a topping bar with lots of yummy choices to add to your sandwiches, just not as good as Pecos Bill's!

But I still have never had a problem at Rosie's -- we grab snacks there all the time and have had meals there on several occassions because we didn't want to trek across the park to Backlot Express.

"Trek across the park?"

We did this park last and everyone in our party was absolutely in hog heaven because going from end to end only took about 5 minutes walking.

Not to offend, but I'd take a 5 minute walk to get guaranteed good food over a chance to get a heat-lamped crappy burger.

Now if it was going end to end at MK or Epcot, I might opt for the crappy burger...or go hungry.

And if I remember correctly, Back Lot Express was kind of centrally located, maybe a bit more off to the left of the giant hat than central, but not too far tucked away unlike Rosie's which is just at the crossroads for ToT and RnRC.

But hey, to each his own. Some people I love and respect truly like foods that I would never think of putting in my mouth. And I'm sure they have a food item or two that I eat that repulses them as well.

But since I got my inspiration to eat at Back Lot Express and avoid Rosies from reading the posts on this lovely website, chalk me up as another endorsement for Back Lot Express.

All of the food comes from the same place and the only difference in the food is in how long its been cooked and maybe the buns.

The burger meat is the same at every quick service resturant.

What time did you go and eat? How busy was it?

I can probally tell you why your food tasted so bad if you answer those questions. I assume it was during the easter/spring break season.

I disagree w/ Turkeylegboy.

It all depends on food prep and how the kitchen is run. I was at DS on Monday the 8th and ate at Back Lot Express at 1:00pm. The lines here were far shorter than Rosie's seemed to be at 11:45am and shorter than some of the lines in the ABC Commissary (we had momentarily ducked into there prior to going to Back Lot).

Again, the food at Back Lot was great, maybe because they aren't so rushed, but I think a lot has to do with who they have cooking the stuff.

If Turkeylegboy's logic was true, then why do we even have postings, not to mention web-sites and entire chapters of touring books devoted to WDW restaurant reviews and opinions?

If Rosie's periodically sucks for food quality and Back Lot rarely if ever does, then that's the way it is.

Sorry that some of our web-friends had a bad meal. Next time scour the postings on this site to find out where to eat and what places to avoid. That's what I did for months leading up to my trip.

I ate at 8 different WDW eateries and had great food every time. Guess that means the people posting tend to have great taste.:sohappy: :)

In the Studios I like to go to the ABC Commisary because it has "different" types of fast food. After a while I am sick of the chicken strips and burgers.

Maybe you misunderstood my point or I didn't make it clear enough.

All raw food comes from the same place and is the same. Ingredients are the same for all quick service items except for maybe buns.

At some resturants, the equipment is different. That's what I meant by how its cooked along with who cooks it. You are right in that it depends on who you have preparing the food.

Each place is different in terms of how its prepared (cooked), who does it and how food is kept warm.

I worked in Epcot @ Liberty Inn and picked up shifts at EU, Peco's Bills, Cosmic Rays, and the Backlot.

If a resturant is extremely crowded, the cooks will order lots of burgers to be cooked (usually 12 at a time, sometimes running machines straight thru with meat). Often times food is ready to go before someone on the counter is ready to fill that order and give it to a guest.

When a resturant is not busy (for Liberty Inn, about 1-4 pm), emphasis is placed on cooking to order. This way food is fresh. If you're ever at a resturant and no one is there and it takes a few minutes for it to be given to you, its probally being made cooked to order.

Hamburgers are special orders and are cooked to order at all times. Cheeseburgers are the normal thing and are usually cooked in multiples of 6.

If I knew what was ordered and when it was, I could give a better explanation of why the food may have been so bad.
