The Disney Stores and WDW

I really wish the Disney Stores would rehab their merchandise. It seems like all they cater to are little girls. (even though i am a 21 year old male, and my girlfriend tells me that i act like a little boy in the store) there isn't anything hardly in there for guys...

now, they have had the Adventurer's action figures, but only Hercules, Aladdin, Peter Pan, Hook and Tarzan. I would greatly love to go into one of the disney stores and see merchandise from WDW or DL, like some ride/attraction die cast toys, or posters from the parks... that would make them so much better! just a wish. - (i live two hours from the nearest disney store in a mall, and sometimes making that long trip is only worth it to me knowing that i get to go to the Disney Store...

 Yeah, I agree. We went into our local DS and all they had was little kids stuff. I use to buy my wife presents from there and even me some things from time to time, but the other day I just walked in and walked out....:( Are you listening Disney?

I miss the adult merchandise as well!!! It took a trip to Disney World to finally get a Disney watch and t-shirt. I miss the good ole days when I could just get that stuff at the Disney store in the local mall. :)

I totally agree... I've been forced to shop at the on-line DS (which is okay if you don't mind waiting for shipping) due to the fact that the local DS doesn't carry adult stuff.

Disney is in the process the last I heard to sell off TDS to another company because there losing money, thats mostly the reason the merchandise is awful now. If they had left things the way they were the stores would be more profitable. the other reason is they over saturated most of the markets they were in

I agree, the store is only litte kid stuff now. When it comes to clothing though, I shop in the lil kid section for Disney stuff. But I just recently went in a DS and was upset by how little amount of stuff they carried. We used to go in and come out with one if not two bag fulls of stuff. Now, we walk in and are lucky to buy one thing

I'd like them to have a go at designing clothes for students n' stuff, really vintage etc. Over here there's been a major increase in retro mickey Tshirts, everyones wearing them! fran from travis wore one a few years back,

Yeah I wish they hadn't changed the stores, but I never really cared for their merchandise in the first place. Guess that's because I never found the stuff as quality as WDW's...would be great if they did. Anyone remember when Mickey's Kitchen was around? I'm not sure how many there were, but there was one here in IL. Those were the good ol' days...

I agree. Thats the problem with the Disney store, its all stuffed animals and toys you can get at Toys R Us. They need more variety, more stuff from the parks. How many stuffed animals do they think they can sell at the mall?

I have to agree. My husband used to buy all my Christmas presents from the Disney Store. Now he does it online or when we take a vacation to WDW. Even online is bad if you have an infant. When my first child was born they even had the cutest stuff for babies. Now with my second I cannot find a thing for her. When we go to WDW in Oct I will have to stock up on clothes for her and Christmas items for the family.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, however you look at it), my two year old loves everything in the stores now and we still leave with bags full, but only with items for her. In fact we are avoiding the store because she is causing us to go broke

and also, put more "guy" merchandise in there. i also remembe when you could buy nice gifts for people... i once received a really nice Mickey Pen which was only in January, but the two Disney stores that i have been to most recently do not carry anything like this...

does anyone know if there are big models available of...
Cinderella's Castle
Spaceship Earth
The Sorceror's Hat
Tree of Life?

Disney Stores

My Wife and I are former cast members with The Disney Store, and we agree with all the comments made here so far. Here in Austin, we had a store close due to over-saturation. (although we were told it was because the mall operator was gouging us on a lease-renewal.)

And as for the merchandise, we made the same comments in store from time to time. Unfortunately, store management never really seemed interested in what our guests were saying as it related to merchandising, but rather, worried about the next floor move coming up. Too much kiddie merchandise, no more art, watches, etc.

Now I would say to those of you out there that part of the charm of a trip to the parks is that you can purchase merchandise at the parks, that can't be purchased elsewhere. But I see no problem with offering a "few" items through the Stores that come from the parks. Unfortunately, what most don't know, is that the stores are operated by a different "arm" of the company, and therefore, have to deal with the parks as a merhcant purchasing product from a wholesaler. And beleive me, during teleconferences the emphasis was placed on plush, plush, plush!!!

It's time for Disney to get back to what made them great!!!! Satisfying the customer. Listening to the customer!!!
