The Disney Club

I apologize if this has been discussed before. If it has, please direct me to the thread. I just heard from my brother that effective December 2003, Disney is closing/cancelling the Disney Club. What gives? This gave us the opportunity to visit WDW twice and sometimes 3 times a year because of the discount. We used it all the time. What are they thinking?
Thread change: We have the Premium Annual Pass and as I read it, one of the perks is a discount at WDW hotels for pass holders. We will be visiting WDW for 5 days after Christmas and cannot use the discount. What's up there? Thanks for all the information everyone will provide.

Yes you can use the club discounts throughout 2003.
As long as you have a valid club card discounts will apply. My card expire Jan but if i renew by Dec 12 They will honour all club discounts till the end of Dec 2003.
Its worth the cost of a card for the guaranteed discount on the dates i wanted.

Hi Nansafan! For the rest of this year the annual passholder discount rate only applies until 12/19/02. The "Holiday Season" starts on 12/20/02 and runs until 12/31/02. The only "official" way you can get the discount is to book your room starting on 12/19/02 and then it will run for the length of your stay up to 14 days. The devil is always in the details concerning Disney discounts.

Happy, we've had a card since before when it was called the "gold" club or something like that. We love the discounts cause they meant we could visit more often. I was wondering though if anyone knew why it was being cancelled.

im bummed that the club is closing. does this mean that the magazine is over with too? i have a feeling they will reintroduce the club in the future, only because i think they removed it cause theyre offering a discount...well, theyre losing a lot of money by doing that (arent they?) i always thought that its better to have people there on a discount, but i dont know, im not the CEO. anyway, the club more than paid for itself when my fiancee and i were down there. I think the club was a steal if you ask me. I personally wouldnt mind paying extra either. i think 35 was cheap!!!! Considering: we received 6 total dollars off on two trips or so to rainforest cafe, we received $20 off our purchase at downtown disney, we got free wine glasses from fultons, we got discounts on food and whatnot.

anyway, i hope they decide to come out with it again, and like i said, itll prolly only be a matter of time....just like early entry to the park, they realized what a big mistake it was to get rid of it, and POOF its back
