The DCA Parade Route

Heres another part of DCA that is effected by the current and future sets of construction walls in DCA. So heres some screen shots I took as well as the route/length

In 2001-2009 this was the normal route, from the Sunshine Plaza gates to the Paradise Pier gates or other way around.

Then in late 2009 when the World of Color walls and the Little Mermaid walls were pushed closer together eliminating part of the parade route that started/ended in Paradise Pier, instead it would go from the Sunshine Plaza gates to the Tortilla gates.

In early 2010 more walls went up in Hollywood, along the Hollywood BLVD and in the Tower courtyard. In late April the temporary walkway from the Tower courtyard to Bugs Land will close to be come a permanent walk way from April-Aug also effecting Fastpass for Tower. It will also effect the staging area/drive up to the Sunshine Gates.

Rumor says this will be the new route stepping of at the Tower gates near the Tower gift shop/Tower exit, making its way down Hollywood until it reaches Sunshine Plaza and will continue to the Paradise Pier gates.

The new parade lights in Paradise Park. I hope the rest of the route is updated with new ones too.

It will be interesting to see what actually happens with the route, as the Buena Vista Street is suppose to start half in Oct.(maybe effecting the Sunshine Plaza part) and Carsland is said to move into DCA in the Fall(probably effecting the Tortilla gate). Also Im pretty sure the Hollywood sign(unless they get a new one that can raise)is to short for most the Pixar Play Parade floats to fit under, as goes for the Red Car Trolly lines.

I believe the original 2001 plan was to have the parades go down Hollywood and that the speakers are already there, just needs parade lighting now, but the Hollywood sign's budget was cut so it wasnt able to move higher for the floats to fit under.

The parade route has its own thread! :D Thanks for the maps. It'll be interesting to see what happens when construction on Paradise Garden and Buena Vista St. begins.

Al said in his latest update that, if the plans go through, DCA will have the longest parade route in any Disney park. This will mean they have to adjust parade floats and choreography, to make the long trek from Hollywood Land all the way to Paradise Pier.

04.04.10 — Parade Change
At Disney's California Adventure, the High School Musical 3 parade will be re-routed from Paradise Pier to Pacific Wharf starting on April 15. Showtimes will be adjusted to avoid a scheduling conflict with the Green Army Men performances.

I wonder where they'll do the show stop....

The April refurbishment schedule has been updated, and the temporary connector path between Bug's Land and the Tower of Terror will be closed April 19 through August 15 to allow construction of a more permanent route between the two lands. During this period, Fastpass service for the Tower of Terror will not be offered.

This area is also where the parades travel to get to the Sunshine Plaza gate.

If true will have yet another route for the parades. For the summer at least. As the Sunshine Plaza gate will be unreachable due to construction of the permanent walk way from Bugs Land to Tower. And the gate East of Tower would later be blocked by walls on Sunset Blvd. due to Red Car Trolley construction not to mention the Hollywood sign is still in the way too.

New parade route in DCA – Starting April 16 through August 15, DCA's "performance corridor" changes routes and direction, with parades starting at the Paradise Pier gate (near the Maliboomer) and ending at the Cannery Row gate (next to the Mission Tortilla Factory). This route is slightly longer than the current route from the Sunshine Plaza to Cannery Row, which will be very useful if large crowds show up for the final weekend of Disney's Electrical Parade.
