The critics are clueless- THE VILLAGE was excellent

Geesh, sure seems the critics are going out of their way to BASH this movie. Even Roger Ebert flamed the movie giving it 1 star. I guess every critic who loved F911 is annoyed at Disney so attempting to take it out on them. Not that everyone has to love or enjoy the movie, but the vehemence going around raises several red flags IMNSHO.

Even after reading reviews and people slipping hints that claimed they "knew the ending from a mile away" and basicaly giving it away, I still enjoyed the movie immensely. The great mark of a movie is when you lose track of time and can't wait to see what happens next. Once again M. Night kept me glued to the seat to find out what would happen next. Even knowing how the film basically ended, I was still surprised by a few other twists and turns and how that tied into the end of the film.

If you enjoyed any of his past films you would more than likely enjoy this film. :)

thanks for the review...im still scared to see it LOL

do you mean people knew the ending because it was obvious from clues throughout the movie or is there a leak somewhere?

I'm a wuss when it comes to watching scary movies and after watching it I did not need to sleep with the lights on.
A couple of scenes will make you jump, but it's only because of the sounds. There is one scene that leaves the audience in gasp but not because it's scary it was just more of a suprise with what happened.
This movie is great because it left the viewer using it's imagination to really scare themselves rather then looking at gore. Plus, it's very story driven :) .

I saw one major twist coming from a mile away not because of any clues or a big leak. I just thought this is an M. Night Shalyaman movie so there has to be a twist in the movie. I just basically spent time during the movie wondereing what the twist will be. There are still a few suprises in-store.

My theater didn't enjoy it.. The whole row of people behind me leaving said it was lame. The movie goes the wrong direction. To many loose ends. I understood the movie.. But I didn't like the outcome. I gave it 1/2 a star.. Waste of my 7 dollars. I won't be seeing his movies anymore. He took a step down with this one. Someone write him and make sure he knows he is suppose to make better movies not worse.

It's shocking: many people in the theater I was in loved it!

I think most people were mad about it not being a horror movie. Looking back at the commercials and the synopsis, they tell exactly what the movie is about, without giving the story away.

This is not one of those jump-out-of-your-seat scary movie, but if you think about this movie, you can find yourself more scared than any horror movie can make you.

Remember what Walt Disney said about not making movies for his critics, he was making movies for his consumers and fans.

I know many people found it to be boring and lacking in suspense but for me it was quite the opposite. Sure, some parts were a little predictable but it was the characters and their behavior (mostly fear) towards life in the village that had me intrigued.

It has been my favorite summer movie so far.

I loved it, too!

We went on Saturday afternoon and it was WAY different than I was expecting, but a very fun movie to watch.

I've never been so impressed with a movie's music as I was with this one. My theater seemed to enjoy it.

If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest going in with as few preconceived notions as possible. it's unlike any movie I've ever seen.

Congrats to Disney on a much needed #1 opening!

I LOVED the village! It wasn't as scary as I hoped, but that one scene at the end was rather creepy. It had an interesting story, and was wonderfully shot! I give it four out of five! :D
