Well not long to Christmas now and I've just watched a Saturday morning kitchen tv show, cooking traditional turkey etc, but a starter dish was scallops baked in their shell with puff pastry top.I love scallops and lucky to stay in the west coast of Scotland where the finest of hand dived scallops can be got,but where in Disney would I find the best scallop dish.I normally just pan fry mines,a couple of minutes on each side.So all you fish fans out there, what restaurant should I try for the ultimate scallop treat.?

I prefer scallops fried, along with fried clams which is blasphemy to some people but is a New England thing I guess, so I have only had scallops at two restaurants in WDW. I had the seared scallops at Artist Point. I thought they were under done which was another reason to dislike the restaurant. I also had the grilled scallops at Flying Fish and they were very good.

I love scallops too! I think my favorite so far at Disney World have been the seared Maine diver scallops on the appetizer menu at Yachtsman Steakhouse. They currently come on a bed of greens with a smoked bacon vinaigrette, but I think they came with gorgonzola grits when we tried them.

I also had the Flying FIsh scallops last month. They were delicious, but the accompanying mascarpone risotto was so incredibly rich and filling.

Oh good Lord, you folks are KILLING me!
I go crazy for scallops!
I'm gonna' get blasted for this one probably, but on our trip this past July I had a scallop dish that was part of the Triasic Trio at T-Rex that was so darn tasty it stood out from the other dishes. The scallops were a little smaller than I would have liked, but the dish was so darn tasty. 2 others in our party had it and thought it was pretty amazing, as well.
Sometimes, ya' just never know...!

You shouldn't get blasted. T-Rex was one of our surprise meals of our 14 day vacation.;)

My DW just loves decent sized scallops as well so we tried a few places earlier this month:

Ragland Road: Scallops battered and fried on a fork
Le Cellier: seared appetizer
Teppan Edo: Scallops
Rose and Crown: seared appetizer
Artist Pointe: seared scallops over risotto
La Hacienda de San Angel: Del Mar
Kona Cafe: Shrimp and scallops

Believe it or not she thought that the Rose and Crown's were the best of the lot... even beating out Artist Points Entree at less than half the cost). Del Mar at La Hacienda was number two (even though I needed to grab her Margaritas from the shack outside, the Jose Cuervo Lime beats everything inside hands down). Kona Cafe would be number 3.

The taste of a callop, being a filter feeder, depends on where the scallop was harvested.

Sometimes a scallop just is not tasty, no matter what you have done to it (even some farmed ones). Me, I happen to like the smaller (Bay) scallops.

Not exactly a "stand alone" scallops dish, but Y & Y at AK has a Malaysian Seafood Curry that is pretty fair. The scallops, fish (grouper?) and mussels blend well with the cilantro and lime!! Just had it last Friday!

I'm coming to your house for dinner!! Love scallops but dh severly ALLERGIC can't even cook them at home. That's the reason we can't go to teppan edo. Even the lovely scent. So enjoy an extra helping for me!

I doubt it is grouper - but maybe it is. I love grouper, but it has been severly overfished as of late, and is in trouble. Seeing as WDW went so far as to remove foie gras from menus to avoid a possible black mark in the media, I would think they would do the same with a fish such as grouper. Maybe they would use it as a stand alone dish, but to use it in a curry makes no sense to me. I would think the other flavors in the curry would mask the flavors of the grouper, and instead they would use whatever firm, white fleshed, fish they could get cheaply. But, then maybe I am wrong, WDW does do some strange things.

I am sure the CM told me, but I just didn't recall.

Just checked the menu, and it was Mahi Mahi!! Sorry for the error on the previous; my taste buds are not that sophisticated.

Guess that explains why Y & Y and Pizza Planet are two of my favs!!
