Are you ready for the best idea EVER for a new attraction?
Imagine queue themed to mountainous terrain and you're the adventurer - hiker, mountain climber. The queue cuts through a narrow passage in the mountains, an uphill path to somewhere of high elevation in the mountain tops. The passage cuts through rock, dips under cave-like hollows, and crosses over dangerous rickety bridges made of rope. You pass through caverns where walls are of rock on one side and impassable water falls on the other, and of swarms of bats above. Keep in mind, we're still at the queue, hiking the trail upward.
Once at the top, we enter a spacious cavern. This is actually the entrance to a large themed show building. We walk through a dark entrance to a cave. A CM directs us to a loading platform and thanks us for volunteering for the expedition. We are told that the excavation site is at the valley below two mountains and through the cave. Followed by the required safety instructions, we hear a loud high pitched "WHOOSH!"
The CM hands us a handle and tells us to hold the handle tightly. The handle is tied to a short cable, which is tied to a wheel, which hangs from a long cable, which stretches into the depths of the cave into the forever. For our safety, we are are given a harness to wear and we are securely buckled to the short cable - just in case we accidentally let go of the handle.
Once secure, the CM walks us over to a ledge. On command, we are told to lift our feet. The CM would then start the ride by gently pushes us off the ledge. We now begin the actual ride part of the attraction.
We glide through the cavern picking up speed of the zip line. In actuality, we are in a huge show building. The zip line is actually just the ride mechanism. From here, a story line could be developed. Show elements could include cave scenes, outdoor valley scenes (in the show building), all kinds of AA figures and special effects to interact with. The speed will get faster and faster and there could be control of ride elements to adjust the speed, create curves, controlled buoyancy, bounce, vibrations, drops, etc.
An actual story and theme would have to be developed for it, of course.
