The backside of Expedition Everest

Nope, its still as bare and naked as the Coppertone kid's white (you know what....lol).

The mountain is breathtaking, too bad they spent all the budget on the exterior instead of the actual ride. I digress.....

Have you been on it.

Yes I have, otherwise I would not have made the comment. :animwink:

The ride is fantastic, no doubt, but for a Disney ride, I was quite let down with the lack of actual ride themeing. With this HUGE mountain/warehouse to work with, one would expect some extreme interaction with the latest Imagineer AA wonders, but a slow falling plastic hawk, cartoon projection, and a 20 second viewing of the actual climax of the ride is certainly a Disney fan's idea of a let down.

Perhaps I will add to the full reviews later, but for now, I simply cannot give the ride more credit than its actually worth. As a coaster, the ride is smooth and thrilling, but as a Disney themed attraction, I'm sorry to say it, but Universal's "Revenge of the Mummy" wins out simply because of their obvious effort in creating an atmosphere in between the speed.

We have to be honest, the Yeti is all alone in a HUGE room, as is his projected shadow. I just feel that there is SO much more than can be done with this space. Here is another way to explain my rating of Everest: imagine entering a multi-million dollar, 150 room mansion with only a single twin-sized bed as it's claim to furniture and a giant, handcrafted chandelier that takes your eye and imagination, but it can only be seen from three stories below. I rode three times, and I have to say, my opinion of the ride only grew in strength with each adventure. April is still months away, can classic Disney magic be added to a seemingly incomplete ride in this short space of time? :veryconfu

Well its a mountain. I don't know what else they could have put in there other than rock work and the Yeti.

I guess the same could be said for other "mountain" attractions like Splash Mountain. I mean, all that carefully designed themeing should be removed and replaced by a single AA of Brier Rabbit just standing still, waving his arms. Top that off with Brier Bear and Fox projected on the wall just before you make the final drop and you have yourself an Expedition Everest version of a classic Disney ride.

Too bad that the only AAs in the actual mountain in Splash Mountain are located at the finale.

According to Lee, they do plan to fix the problems of the backside of the mountain. It won't be "finished", per say, atleast not like the front of the mountain, but it will be painted to look like it's a real mountain. That takes care of that!

Splash Mountain is supposed to be "cartoony." Everest is supposed to be realistic.

Even so, the scenes with Animatronics aren't set in Chick-A-Pin hill. They are located elsewhere in the Song of the South Realm, hence the blue skies and rolling Hills.

they are currently paving the road back there. i go back and forth almost everday behind it and i still laugh at seing that stupid bird going up and down. up and down becasue that if you could actualy look down at the broken track you would see the back lot. but to be honest not much at that particular location. except a few holding pens.

Okay, I can see that I am fighting a pointless battle here. You seem to be a one-way fan who believes that just because Disney opens a new attraction, it will automatically be of perfect standards. The truth is, many diehard fans, not just me, feel that Everest greatly lacks in overall production, a point I believe to be a major FACT. If you truly feel that Everest is perfect as is, then good for you, enjoy the ride, you have the right to voice your opinion. But for those of us who expected more, please let us have our say. I for one would rather be honest than rave over a ride I do not feel stacks up against the usual Disney standards. Like I said before, the ride is good, but it could be much better, especially for an attraction of its size.

Odd, wouldn't leaving the road unpaved look more realistic? Atleast look more like a locale in the Himalays. I've never been, but I don't think they have paved roads running along the backsides of the mountains.

Maybe that's just me though.

I can find in none of the more recent posts in this thread anyone who says anything about you being wrong, at this point we're talking about the backside of the mountain being finished. Feel free to form your opinions of the attraction, and know that others may not agree with it. I'm not just talking to SoFlaDisneyFan, I'm talking to everyone in WDW Magic. NO ONE has the right to change anyone elses opinions, or make anyone feel bad or wrong for feeling the way they do.

I feel Everest is fine the way it is, however, several CM's whom I've spoken to, including one person with a Blue ID featuring Sorcerer Mickey on it has told me that it is not completed yet.... some effects are being added between now and grand opening, as well as more theming pieces.

Yensid, did you actually READ my last post? I was very clear about allowing him to voice his opinion.

There is one thing I read that really disturbs me, Kevin Yee on Mice Chat claims that you can see things like the structural beams of the mountain during some of the dark tunnel scenes. Is this true for some of the people who have ridden it? If so, then that's just terrible. Money or not, that's very bad show.
