Hi Everyone! After enjoying reading a ton of trip reports on here I decided it was time to share my own. A little backstory….My name is Jen and I'm from the great state of New Jersey, where pizza and Taylor Ham (no, it's NOT pork roll!) rule the world. My first trip to Disney was when I was 11 in 1986, then went again in 1988. I didn't go back to Disney until 2010, and that's when I caught Disney fever! Sometimes I go to Disney with friends, other times solo, and this is going to be a solo trip. I'm not into coasters or thrill rides, so no ToT or Everest for me
, but I will ride Soarin', HM, and Dinosoar to death.
We've had a horrible, rainy summer here in NJ, and many other states are too. This weather pattern we're stuck in is depressing. I needed some cheer and good vibes, so I started planning October 2019 to Disney. The more I thought about it, the more I wondered it I'd make it that long! I started pricing trips from October through early December of this year, and after playing with dates and figuring out when I could use some vacation days, I came up with early December 2018, December 6-11, Thursday to Tuesday, at All Star Music.
I've never done a trip from one week into another, but those were the only dates I was able to find at a good price, so I jumped on it. Rooms were going with the snap of a finger, and I probably got one of the last rooms available at the resort. The good thing is that I figured airfare would cost less since I would be traveling during the week, and I scored with that too. I always take the first flight out of EWR in the morning, usually it's 5:30 or 6am, on either Southwest, JetBlue, or United, depending on who has the lowest price. I priced Southwest first and they were coming in at $234 round trip including the early bird seating. I priced Jetblue and they were $204 round trip including bags, so I jumped on that and chose my usual window seat for each flight. I got my 6am departure
and a late evening flight back home, so I can enjoy the parks till mid-afternoon on my last day.
I know that Pop Warner is going to be going on at the All Stars when I'm there, but it was Music or nothing, so I'm going for it. Plus, I'm arriving on Thursday, and Pop Warner ends on Saturday, so I really only have to contend with them for a couple of days. (Pray for me! LOL) I can easily choose to avoid the food court and eat breakfast at the parks for a day or 2 until they leave. I sleep with a white noise app on my phone, so I hope that blocks out any noise from the rooms.
I started working on my Touring Plan, and while I still have to figure out a few things, I know I'm going to spend day 1 in HS, and possibly hop over to Epcot late afternoon/dinner time. After stalking the reservations for a few days I got a lunch reservation at the Sci-Fi.
That's it for now, but I'll be back to post some more!
