This is such a great idea to catalogue the passion and effort that goes into these projects! I'm only sad I came upon it so late!

Thank you! Thought it would be a fun way to cap off the year. Stay tuned I hope to get through April tonight and once we hit August @AceAstro has volunteered to take the baton from there till December recapping everything!

Shame it never really got off the ground. Still, there’s always a chance.

EPCOT's 35th Celebration

A relatively new imagineer at the time, Michel took his realistic approach to armchair imagineering and decided to try and create his own version of Epcot's 35th Anniversary Celebration which at the time in March, was still months away. His small-scale additions such as the title of the short-term festival - EPCOT's Festival of the Future, special music album - 35 Years of EPCOT: We've Just Begun to Dream disc collection, as well as new post-show areas for Mission:SPACE - "Reach for New Horizons at the Advanced Lab Training" were all very practical imagineering concepts.

March Mania Season 1

Inspired by the bracketology of the NCAA March Madness Season -- kmbmw777 began our own version of a 'march madness' by starting this project as a means of voting for some of the top projects that the forum had produced - in order to crown a champion. The format of the project involved several members nominating the categories of

Freelance - personal projects
Mega Freelance - big open brainstorming projects
Competition - individual competition projects
Mega Competition - group competition projects

Until ultimately a Final Four was selected of @MonorailRed Western River Expedition, @MCParradox 's Adventure in Time, @D Hindley 's DisneySky, and Team Lassetoki's Xanadu from The Sole Imagineer Competition Season 2.

Walt Disney World: A New Era

Revising one of his old imagineering concepts - PerGron was a relatively new imagineer when he burst onto the scene with big and bold concepts to expand the Walt Disney Parks.

In 2018 -- the hope is to see PerGron come back and continue his personal project as the initial ideas were ambitious and interesting to say the least!

Open Brainstorming Concepts
Club 32

Originating out of Team Baby Groot from The Creator Games: Project Revival - the team wanted to continue brainstorming projects together even though the original competition had ended in January. Throughout the month of February - brainstorming ideas flowed around the team, until ultimately it was decided to take those ideas -- and apply them in an open brainstorming thread

What happen next was very unexpected as 'Club 32' as it was called quickly became one of the most active threads in the forum's history, accumulating thousands of responses and new members who are still involved to this day!

Our brainstorming efforts in the Club 32 Lounge thread ultimately branched off into several other niche brainstorming threads involving certain lands/resorts/attractions in what would be known as the 'Sydney Disneyland Resort' - a semi-realistic Disney Resort located in Sydney Australia.

As you can see - Sydney Disneyland turned into the most expansive open-brainstorming concept in the forum's history (without exaggeration)

We even have the privilege of former Imagineer and artist - Tom Thordarson - chiming in to give us advice on organizing our project. Mr. Thordarson was the concept artist for Journey to the Center of the Earth in Tokyo DisneySEA.

Great stuff you guys!! Coming along!! I don't know what level of drawing most of you are at, but work on lots of creative "details" too....loose but full of original thinking. For example...if you have a ride. Do a sheet of thoughts on the ride vehicle. Try original variations. For example, recently, on a non-Disney related project, I was working on a ride where the client wanted a suspended vehicle (like Peter Pan). They had a story already written about the ride and that the guests somehow had to be flying with or on or powered by, giant butterflies. SO I did a rough sketch page showing some possibilities .Attached here. Keep these rough...they are "thinking drawings". Do a lot of thinking drawing even before you tackle your p.o.v's . This will help make the concepts more "original" and unique.

In the months to come -- Sydney Disneyland took shape - ending in June with 'Phase 1' of the resort -- the finished Sydney Disneyland Theme Park.

Sea World Sydney

Making a name for himself early on for his tendancy to branch off out of the realm of Disney Parks, with his 2016 Busch Gardens refurbishments, in 2017 - IAmNotAHufflepuff began a quest to tackle a Sea World Sydney project - one that still has yet to be complete.

The idea is an interesting concept - and one that if Hufflepuff returns to the forum in 2018, would be very neat to see completed.

Warner World Orlando

Disney X Resort

In the apparent running theme of projects in April left for future use - Disney X Resort was essentially a choice left up to the armchair imagineers on the forum to come up with a new resort location for S.P.E.W's theme park resort.

Fun banter and conversation coincided - but it would be cool to see where this ultimately goes down the road.

Imagineering Competitions

Timeline
May 19th - October 9th

Immediately following the conclusion of So, You Want To Be An Imagineer Season 14, @TheOriginalTiki and his co-host BlueDragonFive, began Season 15 entitled - Uniting Universal. The original concept of the competition would be that it would revolve around strictly Universal prompts rather than the normal mix of Disney and Universal. This format also enabled the game to follow suit with the One Sentence Competition Season 3 Episode 2 - and use each prompt to create a Resort - entitled 'Universal Australia'

For the first few weeks of the game, the prompt format followed suit, yet in mid-June the competition went on hiatus until it was picked up once again by fellow imagineers in mid-September. For the following few weeks until its completion on October 9th - the Universal Australia Resort was built - with dozens of members chiming in with more of an open brainstorming format to the competition...resulting in an incredible final product.

The Adventures of WALL-E

One of HMF's first posts on the imagineering forum came from an idea he had for a while - which was an omnimover attraction based on WALL-E which would be placed in one of four location

*Carousel of Progress/America Sings/Innoventions/Star Wars Launch Bay building at Disneyland's Tomorrowland.
*New industrial looking building on site of Tomorrowland Speedway themed to Buy-n-Large warehouse in Magic Kingdom.
*The current site of Monsters Inc. Ride and go seek in Tokyo Disneyland.
*On the Autopia site in Disneyland Paris.

Overall the project was very realistic and practical - and a great addition to the 2017 Imagineering year!

The Great British Literature Adventure Ride

Originally posted in the UK attraction rumor thread, this concept was brought to the imagineering forum and received rave reviews for the creativity and genuinely interesting concept for a United Kingdom Pavilion attraction... essentially riding through Tales of Love, Horror, Adventure, Mystery, and Fantasy of British Literature. Disney Lands of Enchantment Electrical Parade

A concept that just until recently I didn't even find! One of the hidden gems of 2017 in terms of personal projects was Magic Feather's Lands of Enchantment Electrical Parade - a new parade concept for the Magic Kingdom. While the parade itself may still be added later on - the build up and premise for the parade - using several eclectic Disney and S.E.A. characters - was refreshing to read!
