the big giant mirror overtop the archway of cinderellas(excuse spelling) castle at magic kingdom, someone said its shows all the disney castles in other parks every couple of minutes or show. how is this?

The pictures of the different castles along with the year that park opened, rotates every few minutes just like one of the billboards that you would see on a highway. I wanna say its 3 sided but I cant remember right now.

What mirror are you talking about?

The big one hanging off the front of Cinderella's Castle as part of the HCOE. It isn't a mirror, but its made to look like one. As UltimtMickeyFan said, its made up of a bunch of rows of three sided "boards" that rotate into position to make up the pictures of the castles.

Ah! Ok.... Thanks!
I have not been there for the HCOE so I haven't seen it like that yet.

Is Hong Kong Disney on the mirror?
Yeah, HKDL is represented on there. There are really only 3 unique castle designs, so they really only have 3 pictures. The names and dates of the parks are actually seperate from the rotating pictures.

The HCOE continues through the end of next year.

HCOE ends on Oct 1, 2006.

The 3-sided panels are called Pariactoi (sp) and were invented by the ancient greeks for use as scenery for early plays. The game board on Family Feud is a large, single pariactoi.

Because the first castle built (Disneyland, CA) and the last castle built (Hong Kong Disneyland) look the same, and the second and third castles built (Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland) look the same, the casltes are presented in chronological order.

Clever Greeks...

Ha! I've been there twice during this celebration... never noticed it. However, I do remember hearing about this a long long time ago when I first learned of the changes to the castle.

Ugh...the 'mirror'...

That thing never works...never will. Just trying to get through these last 2 months with it. Don't understand...the I-4 billboards seem to work fine all the time... :veryconfu

TRIVIA-
You'll notice (maybe 50% of the time if we're lucky), the Castle will stop on Tokyo Disneyland during Cinderellabration. Why? Because that's where we got this...uhm...'show'.

During Wishes, it will also stop on Tokyo Disneyland...NOT because we took it from Tokyo...but because they only allowed us to make it stop on one scene...and that Tokyo for Cinderellabration.

Originally it was supposed to be an LED video screen. But of course with budget cuts...it turned out to be an I-4 billboard. Oh well...maybe in the next version of it, you'll see an ad on the Castle for the Main Street Emporium... :brick: (joke)

There are two Castle designs not three

Toyko Disneyland and WDW's Magic Kingdom Castle are the "Cinderella Design."

Disneyland, Ca, Disneyland Paris, Fr and Hong Kong Disneyland are the "Sleeping Beauty Design."

Cool, I've never noticed this "mirror." I guess that's what happens when trying to keep track of three little kids!!!
