Thanksgiving

We'll be in WDW for 2 weeks, either side of Thanksgiving and know the Parks will be packed for the days before and after the day itself.. We assume Thanksgiving Day itself will be the worst for crowds and wondering what strategy will be best to avoid them.

Will the malls be open on Thanksgiving Day or is it a National Holiday?
