Test Track- How long does our car stay on our magicband?

I've noticed that the car design we create doesn't stay for very long, but I have no idea how long it stays....is it a few hours, til the end of day?

Anyone know?

Odd question to be sure. Why do you ask? Do you want to take the car home with you? OT but that's not a bad idea really. Imagine being able to design your car in the queue and picking it up in the gift shop. As far as how long it stays on the magicband; I'd assume it poofs away once you exit the building.

I've ridden Test Track several times in a single day and was always made to make a different car which was fine, why would you want to test the same car over and over? Personally I think the whole car design thing is kinda silly and would rather skip it and get on the ride faster. But I'm sure families with kids like it.

Also, I wish we had a way to do this with the MyMagic+ app, but not give away the numbers until we ride the attraction since that is part of the appeal.

Anyway I love the car design part, though I wish it was more realistic and less cartoony

I don't know about the duration. But I do know that no information about your car's design goes on the card. It's just an identifier - the data is on a Disney computer.

An article was just posted today on Walt Disney World News Today's site about this.

wow, amazing timing.

I actually did see those kiosks the other day, just thought they were faster/easier terminals to use than the ones farther inside the exit area.

My car lasted three days at least as i made a car then few days later wife made one i tapped my band just as we got in the car forgetting she made the car this time and our old one popped up

On our last trip I didn't make a new one, but still tapped my band at loading. The car that I made a year earlier popped up. So, mine stayed on my account for at least a year.

and just an FYI, if you don't make a car, and scan your magicband or card right before you load, it will load a generic car for you (with crappy stats!)

With the advances in 3D printing, this probably shouldn't be too far off.. and seems like a good way to monetize the ride for them.

Sometimes I don't want to design a new car but want to show my car to a friend who wasn't with me the last time, etc.

Plus I'm just curious :)

It would be cool to be able to take your car on a 2nd ride and have a chance to tweak it each time to see what worked and what didn't and see if you could evolve your car to make the best design you can.

Just so everyone is aware....They now have this..Stat Station is just as you enter the gift shop and you can create a card featuring the car you had created for...Brace for it...$6.99...Now I'm not sure if you would be able to re-upload it if you went back on...But, who knows? Down the road they would probably figure something out...More info of it can be found here....https://blogmickey.com/2017/09/video-take-test-track-vehicle-design-home-custom-card-design/
And here's the video on how it's all done

The ink is surprisingly pricey for how little it prints. These look like plain cards without the chip in them, so chances are slim of them doing anything right now. $7 just for a piece of plastic. The new logos and lighting placement around the top of the store does look nice though.

As much of a dumb gimmick that is and how much I'll hate myself...I might be 1 of 5 customers that will buy one. While everyone is trying to make the coolest car with wings and flames...I'm trying to get as low economy possible. It'd (almost) be nice to have a stack of my incredible designs.

^That was this summers attempt. My record stands at -2 (or 0-2 as it would say).

Oh definitely. The tech has been available, commercially, for years. The only hangup I can imagine is that GM would rather kids walk out of the pavilion with die-cast Corvettes and Camaros than a bunch of nonsensical make believe cars that they will never be able to buy.

as a 3D printing expert...if it would be feasible...yes and no....unless they bought the Carbon 3D printers that use resin and only a single color....most prints would take a few hours, so it would basically be a "pick up at the end of the day" kind of thing.

If they were to ensure all parts are 3D printable I think the model options would change a bit as some things are easier to print than others...supports are required for overhangs, etc.

It isn't an exact science but it is improving all the time.
