Teppanyaki

I like it - but honestly if you have Japanese restaurants where you live - there's not much differance, except you pay alot more and get alot less...

personally I usually skip this restaurant b/c there's nothing really special about it compared to all the other countries...

but that's not to say the food isn't yummy - so if you don't normally do Japanese - it'd be a great restaurant! ;)

I echo the previous posters sentiments. It is nice, but it's also over-priced and not in the same league as many of the other options at EPCOT.
With that in mind though, it can be very fun in groups, and each experience is exactly what you make it.
I went when I was in 5th or 6th grade and I was in awe. It's a lasting memory, but I don't see our disney group ever going there. We love San Angel Inn and Restaurant Marrakesh too much, and we STILL haven't done some of the other restaurants.

Okay, now normally i'd promote almost any Disney Resturaunt because the food is always awesome. But, over the past couple years Teppanyaki has become more expensive and offering less food. It's like $27 for steak, and you don't even get a lot of food all together.

If I can make a reccomendation, Kobe Japanese Steakhouse on 192 or right near the Crossroads (Both about 5 minutes from Disney) is AMAZING. You get wonderful service, TONS of food and the chefs are great. Plus the price is very reasonable. It's like $21 for Steak and Chicken, and that includes Soup and Salad.

Ate there Tuesday. We were on DDP, so expense was not an issue. The servings were as big or bigger as I've had at similar Teppan style restaurants. I had Filet Mignon and the cut was very good in size and marbling, the prearation was done very well and we thoroughly enjoyed the showmanship of our cook [show'person'ship? She was very good anyway].

I'd recommend it on the dining plan. Then price isn't a problem.

on the dining plan, like the other person said, oh yea its worth it. but im such a wimp for the ginger sauce they have, its soooooooooooo good, oh that sauce.........

It was great the last time we were there, especially with the FREE dining plan. But don't go for the food, go for the show. What many have said is true, better and cheaper food can be found outside the World. If you want to try a different type of Japanese food, try Temura Kiku, next door.

If you've been to a good teppanyaki establishment before, I wouldn't recommend going to the one at Epcot. Several of the local establishments around here have better show and food.

We were shocked when the first thing the chef did was slap the meat on the grill. We knew that meant we were getting plain steamed white rice instead of the usual grill fried rice with vegetables that we have become accustomed to. :( No flaming volcano using onion slices and oil. :(

While they may be authentic and had various sushi appetizers (and had ginger ice cream available, yum!) the quality of the show wasn't worth the price tag.

There was one highlight of the meal, at least! :D One of the side orders available was squid, for something like $6 or $7. That was excellent, as they start with a squid steak (from the trunk?) versus the rings from the tentacles. Very tender, full of flavor! :slurp:

THAT is NOT authentic Japanese (grin). It might be what Benihana wants us to think as "real" Japanese, but it's about as authentic as fortune cookies are authentic Chinese (wink).
