We are going to dinner with family to Ohana's while we are in WDW .. My oldest son is SO picky.. I looked at the menu and while it looks delicious to me there is not a thing on there he will eat.

Any suggestions?

Boy I am not sure what your oldest will eat but they have it all.

We went with our two (7 and 5 at the time). They seat you by taking you around the restaurant and showing you where they cook everything (large open fire pit) get you a pineapple and show you desert. Once they seat you it is a free for all. They bring some common veggies and fries and dips and things on a lazy susan for the center of the table. After that the waiters begin to come around with all types of meat (steak, chicken, pork, sausage, chicken wings) that they slice off the spit onto your plate. You can have as much or as little as you want. They whole time this is happening there are coconut rolling contests and hula hoop contests and activities going on with the kids. We had a great time and would recommend to all.

LOL, well, I'm sure the Disney-police will jump in immediately to say it's "O'hana"; some people have a big pet peeve about that, hehe.

Seriously, though, I don't think you will have an issue. The food is pretty "basic" so most kids do well with it, but if they don't the Kona Cafe is right next door and they will bring you things from the kids menu there if you need (french fries, chicken strips, etc.).

O'hana is a wonderful place, and you can be sure that if your son really doesn't like the family-style food, the waitstaff will be more than happy to find something he'll like.

Good luck!

'Ohana is great. There aren't any fries served as part of the meal, but there are fried wonton skins and those are like crispy chips. I would think that kids would like that, and I think that the meat and scalloped potatoes would be kid friendly too. But I did see some kid with chicken strips and mac and cheese so they must have special ordered that. Overall, I think your child should find something to eat there. If not let him go hungry! Just kidding, of course he should enjoy the meal too!

Your son doesn't eat steak turkey or pork? Just tell him what the meat is dont' go into the spices, or sauces that they're cooked with since he's probably never heard of them. It's all psychological with picky eaters. If they hear something they've never heard of they decide they don't like it.
O'Hana's is my favorite restaurant there. I stuff myself silly everytime we go:hurl: :drevil:

He sure doesn't ....
He will eat chicken nuggets (tenders), bread, mac and cheese, taco's without the meat, grilled cheese, french fries (no other potato) .. that's pretty much it .. (for eating out)

I guess we'll find somethig for him

Trust me, I understand about picky eaters. My DS age 7 (was 6 in April) is more than picky....

We went to O'Hana's for dinner and nothing appealed to him. He doesn't even want chicken strips most times and said the mac and cheese was different than home's.... :p

So our very nice server asked him what he wanted, and he said grilled cheese. So, in a few minutes he had a huge plate full of FF and a double decker grilled cheese! My DS age 9 wanted FF, too, so our server brought him some also. Then , she said she would just charge us a la carte for the little one, no sense charaging us for the whole feast price she said. It was a wonderful dinner!

I posted a trip report for picky eaters in April if you want to try to search for it, you might find it useful

Last year we tried Ohana's for the first time. Our daughter didn't like what was on the menu either. So one of the kitchen chefs came out to our table at our server's request and asked Katie what she wanted to eat. Katie told her something light without meat. So the chef said that she had a special recipe that was basically a pasta dish with fried tofu in it. I must have made a face because she winked at me and said to wait and see. And she said that if Katie didn't like it there wouldn't be a charge for her at all. So we gave her the thumbs up, and she grinned and ran off. Our feast began and Katie was served her big dish during the entree part. It was great. We liked it so much we asked to have her pic with the chef, and then she later brought out the recipe. She must have dropped by 4 or 5 times to see if Katie liked the special pasta, and seemed absolutely delighted that she did. I couldn't believe the one on one attention that my daughter received.

It was of those magical Disney experiences that brought tears to my eyes. Katie (16 years old) felt like the most important person in the world. I would have paid extra for the whole thing, but the entree was only half the price of the feast.

And people ask me why I like Disney so much.

The rest of us loved Ohana's. We already have our reservation for this year's trip.
