@Pi on my Cake or anyone else who wants to chime in, starting thread for S.D.C discussion. As @spacemt354 noted, very helpful last year to have these separated out from the main group discussion.
I believe me and you worked together on the Looney Tunes ride last year in the similar six flags project lol

I'll start doing some research on Silver Dollar City. From the name, I'm guessing cowboys lol

Full circle. Ha!

Only looked a little bit, but it is very old school theming. Think there's a waterpark and campground with it. Not sure about expansion areas or those up for revamp. Just had a new coaster last year. Maybe an opportunity for a hotel attached , take part of waterpark indoors (assume it's fair game?). Lots of studying to do!

First thoughts after some very brief research.

The place seems to be very built in it's old school, rustic charm. Our expansion/addition could either expand it beyond that. Or lean into that.

Maybe add a few C-Ticket dark rides with a charming old school style. A minetrain through Natures wonderland type attraction that is large scale, but very charming and fun and slow and atmospheric. A hotel with a spa and rocking chairs on balconies in every room.

A theme park that takes it slow. A relaxing theme park experience. Keep the charm of the old days, just plus that.

Of course there's plenty of other options. This was just first thoughts before doing full research and all

yeah, this one is a little tricky. The idea of the challenge was to make a regional park a vacation destination, however Branson is in of itself already that. The more I've looked at this park, I really like it and it's already got a lot of fun stuff to offer. Was surprised to actually see all of the thrill coasters they've added in recent years.

I initially thought about doing something with the water park, but didn't realize it was 6 miles away, so not even sure that's in play. Height requirements on some of their attractions seem a little high compared to what i'd expect at Disney which is interesting. I don't think adding another high-thrill attraction is the way to go at this time based on their recent additions which lines up with what you said. I do believe they have a mine train type ride though and a steam train. will have to double check. Looking through some POV and rides, it seems like they could use another good family coaster with a max height of 38-40, something reminiscent of Slinky. maybe a flat ride and show to go with it. Maybe something tied into the Caves which is what the park grew out of?

I know the area the park is at is pretty mountainous, so not even sure the elevation and what options we have outside the current boundaries of the park. I do agree an onsite hotel/resort would be a good touch as an alternative to the campground. Don't imagine you get week long visitors for this park, but would be an alternative stay for those visiting the Branson area and put them up close with the park. Make it a very themed/immersive experience in line with what the park is.

random idea @Pi on my Cake and @DisneyManOne
since so much of the park already has the 1880's tie-ins with fire, small town, craftsmen, etc., assuming we can get a little expansion area, what if we did something, still in period, but a little more off-kilter vibe? Do something with some of the crackpot, mythology of the time period that also ties into the history of the park?

When Indians discovered the cave where the park was founded, they called in the Devils Den per the Silver Dollar website as they were afraid to go in. Maybe we say that's because it was one of many resting spots for the Ozarks Howler (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozark_Howler). Later in the late 1800's when the cave was explored for marble they heard the odd sounds again. We can have a light coaster called the Howler or something, nothing too dynamic, also maybe a flat ride that ties into exploring caves, etc. For a craftsman demonstration in the area have a medicine man complete with medicine wagon (maybe this is a street show of some type) where they try and sell you on all of these cures and of course protection potions from the howler.

I like where you're going with this. And for another form of street entertainment, maybe we could have some kind of hoedown at certain points in the late afternoon/early evening. I'm picturing something like what Disneyland used to do for Family Fun Days.

Hey, sorry I haven't been on as much as I hoped during my trip. I'll be back in my own apartment tomorrow night. And ready to be 100 percent Monday morning

No worries. We've got some time to hash it out. I'll be back around tonight and will poke around for a few more ideas

Alright. Caught up on a LOT. Haven't fully read everyone else's work, but I have done a tone of reading and research on Silver Dollar City. I like the ideas we have so far.

  • Focus in on the small scale charm of a simpler park
  • Focus on new family additions to balance the recent big thrills added
  • Focus on the odd stories and unique history, culture, and myths of the area
Essentially we take what makes SDC great, and plus that.

Fire in the Hole is one of their oldest "E-Tickets" and it is a charming, dated indoor dark ride/family coaster themed to the history of the town mixed with some myths. Was originally planned to have a Devil's Den theme, but that changed to the town on fire theme. Having the main new "E-Ticket" of our project be an indoor family coaster with a few dark ride elements themed to the Devil's Den story is a great idea and a great symbolic start for the new chapter of the park's history.

Here is my basic layout of ideas for a plan.

  • Devil's Den Land (Working Title) - $125 Mil
    • Demolish ThuNderaTion (Rather old wooden coaster) and Molly's Mill Restaurant to make way for new land. Nearly as much space as Toy Story Land (minus Mania), if we use it wisely could fit a small land. Right near the actual cave. - 25 Mil
    • The Howler as a Slinky Dog Dash level coaster. Possibly indoors (Inside and outside of caves?) themed to travelling through the cave being chased by the Ozark Howler. A bit scary, but not too scary. Perfect for ages 8 and up. - 60 Mil
    • More thrilling flat ride nearby (Top Spin?) - 15 Mil
    • More family friendly flat ride inside the "cave" either under or surrounded by the coaster. Perhaps a Muzik Express themed to mine carts or something similar. - 15 Mil
    • Restaurant to replace Molly's Mill. - 10 Mil
    • Medicine Man Streetmosphere/Craft
  • Steampunk retheme of Grand Exposition - 70 Mil
    • To tie better into the theme of the new Time Traveller Roller Coaster and upgrade the flat ride collection, give it a vaguely Discovery Bay inspired retheme. Steampunk Americana rather than the more common Steampunk Victorian style. Inventors gather here using some specail metal found in the mines or something.
    • "Dream Big. Do Good" motto from Time Traveller becomes a focus here.
    • Update the theming of the flat rides, kiddie coaster, store, and restaurant to fit the new set up. Lots of gears and steam and copper and clock work stuff. Easy things to make flat rides out of. - 10 Mil
    • The three bug themed kiddie dark rides don't get rethemed. They get moved to the small green area between barn dance and Outlaw Run (Just enough room for all three). That side of the park could use more kid stuff with all the big coasters on the west side. Plus, the bug theme ties nicely to the barn theme.
    • Two new Fantasyland style dark rides. Very small, very old school. Snow White or Pinocchio are our blue print. Alice at most.
      • One themed to steam punk robots. Possibly some robot miners while the human miners are sleeping and slacking off. So, the robots build their own robots. Then the first set of robots are sleeping and slacking off while the new robots are working hard and the humans look on confused - 25 Mil
      • One suspended and themed to flying machines over miniatures and by other flying machines. - 30 Mil
    • New Store - 5 Mil
    • Clockwork themed craftsmen (building clocks to sell?)
  • General Park Theme/show Updates (Plus cost to move Bug Flats) - 25 Mil
  • New 200 Room Hotel with Fancy Spa and Lazy River Pool so your vacation can feel relaxing - 20 Mil
  • Updates to Park Infrastructure (Parking lots, trams, registers, plumbing, whatever would need help for increased crowds) - 10 Mil
Total $250 Mil. Mostly focus on one new area and one heavily updated area.

Thanks for the great summary Pi. Sounds like you are good with the Howler/cave idea. Love the placement and thought behind taking out Thunderation so that this area is literally adjacent to the caves. I think for the family friendly flat ride in this locale, mine carts is definitely the way to go. While we don't want to necessarily copy the Marvel Cave tour, I think a flat ride themed around going into the caves, the work, tools, etc. will do nicely, especially considering there has to be a number of kids who don't get to do the actual cave tour. As much as i'd love to make the Howler or whatever we call it all indoors and this would really help a park that has to shut down rides certain parts of the year, I do wonder realism wise if a park like this would go that route. I think we can definitely have a portion of it go in, through the caves of course. If we are creating artificial cave work, might make good sense to have it and the mine cart flat ride using the same geography.

Great idea on the time traveler area. I saw that attraction and thought the idea and look was really cool for this park but wasn't sure how it fit the overall area. Steampunk Americana would be an interesting take and help the attraction meld with the area.

for the "devils' den" area, it would essentially be this

had you thought about any hotel spots? There is a good bit of forested land across the street from the park. Not sure of elevation or ownership but might be the most feasible and logical placement. Think the pool/lazy river area should all be indoors for year-round use.

That was exactly where I was thinking for the hotel! Either that or by Lot 3. Not knowing elevation stuff or the area much, I didn't know which was better, but my preference is definitely where you have circled. Right near the entrance and could have a scenic walking path connecting the park to the campground added through a part of the hotel. Lot 5 expansion for resort parking. Seems perfect!
